It was the ultimate “New York Moment.”

Tommy Hilfiger took over Grand Central’s Oyster Bar for his fall 2024 show, hired Questlove to DJ, packed the iconic restaurant with boldfacers from Sofia Ritchie Grainge and Damson Idris to Sylvester Stallone, showed a hip preppy collection, and closed his runway extravaganza with an exuberant finale by Jon Batiste.

Even normally impassive fashion folk leapt to their feet, threw their hands in the air and boogied between the booths. When the singer jumped on a table during his high-spirited rendition of “Freedom,” then tickled the ivories on his melodica, the crowd went wild.

This was undoubtedly New York Fashion Week’s most fun event.

The models sauntered through “Tommy’s Club,” as he called it, in oversized cable-knit sweaters, natty herringbone blazers, pleated chinos, rugby shirts, relaxed camel coats and varsity jackets. Styled with baseball caps, white sneakers and extra-long striped scarves, they looked sharp – and there wasn’t a popped-collar in sight.

“Every piece was stunning!” exclaimed Ritchie, who attended with her husband, music exec Elliot Grainge. “It was a beautiful show.”

Grooving next to Grainge was Idris, clad in head-to-toe Tommy. “It’s really my style, it’s like smart casual,” he told Alexa, indicating his striped shirt and white bomber jacket. “I love this outfit. I also love suits and tuxedos.”

The “Snowfall” star likes to fancy up, no matter the occasion. “When I was a kid, on my birthdays, my mom would dress me up in these three-piece suits when the rest of my friends were wearing tracksuits. I was always overdressed, so I kind of carried that into adulthood.”

Damson is working with Brad Pitt on the upcoming Formula One racing movie through Apple Original Films. “I’ve been training for months and months,” he said.

Is he a speed demon in real life? “I’m a granny driver,” he admitted. “I love fast cars but you’ll definitely honk because I’m going too slow.”
