The Tomorrow War appears to have a fairly conclusive ending on first watch – if you ignore the whole time travel paradox thing, that is – but a sequel is already in the works.
So, for those of you still scratching your heads about The Tomorrow War's premise, let alone its ending, it's good news, as executive producer David S Goyer has promised some answers to many of the movie's lingering questions.
Namely, lingering White Spikes questions.
When asked by The Hollywood Reporter whether The Tomorrow War's sequel will explain the motivation behind the aliens transporting the White Spikes, Goyer said that he hoped fans will "get that answer".
"I thought that was one of the more clever twists that [writer] Zach Dean had come up with, [that] the White Spikes weren't the civilization that built the ships that arrived here," he continued. "They were the cattle, they were the game that they were going to hunt."
Hinting at a potential plot point for the follow-up, Goyer added: "I don't want to give away too much but one question is: Why would a civilization breed something like that?

"Fortunately, the film was successful enough that those conversations are happening right now."
We always love a clarification, but following the emergence of a dark and tragic fan theory involving Chris Pratt's character Dan Forester and his potentially inevitable death, may we request that that thread is picked up, too?
