Toms River Animal Shelter seeks supplies for rescued rabbits

TOMS RIVER — The township's animal shelter is seeking more small cages to house rabbits rescued over the weekend from a Harrison Road home on Cattus Island.

Twenty-two rabbits were removed from the backyard and a shed on the property, according to police. The rabbits were taken to the animal shelter, located next to the police department on Oak Avenue.

On Tuesday, the shelter asked for about 15 more cages to house the bunnies and posted photos of some of the rabbits inside small cages to show the type of cage people should donate.
