Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler commit to play at 2021 Travelers Championship

Two more of the top golfers in the world have committed to play at the 2021 Travelers Championship.

Tony Finau, No. 14 in the latest PGA Tour ranking, and Rickie Fowler, a five-time winner on the PGA Tour, signed on Wednesday.

“Tony and Rickie will certainly draw large crowds to TPC River Highlands,” said tournament director Nathan Grube. “They’re both familiar with the course, and we’re thrilled that they’re adding the Travelers Championship to their schedules again this year.”

Finau, 31, making his fifth Travelers appearance. He won the Puerto Rico Open in 2016 for his first PGA win and has eight second-place finishes, two this season. He has finished in the top 10 in 10 major championships, tying for eighth at the PGA Championship last month. Finau debuted in the Ryder Cup in 2018 and the Presidents Cup in 2019.

Fowler, 32, who will be playing the Travelers Championship for the fourth time, won his first PGA event at the Wells Fargo in 2012, won The Players Championship in 2015, and, most recently, the Waste Management Phoenix Open in 2019. He also tied for eighth at the PGA Championship, his best finish so far this season. He’s a veteran of four Ryder Cups, three Presidents Cups and the 2016 Olympics.

Finau and Fowler join a 2021 field that already includes Dustin Johnson, defending champ and top-ranked player in the world, Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Cantlay, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Paul Casey, Marc Leishman, Justin Rose and Bubba Watson, a three-time Travelers champ. The 2021 Travelers Championship will be played June 21-27 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell.

“Adding Tony and Rickie to our field builds on an already impressive group of world-class players,” said Andy Bessette, executive vice president and chief administrative officer at Travelers. “With the Travelers Championship just a couple of weeks away, we’re finalizing the details to make sure we generate as much as possible for charity while delivering an experience that is second to none.”
