Too Hot to Handle star suffers ectopic pregnancy

Too Hot to Handle's Emily Miller has shared that she has suffered an ectopic pregnancy, after finding out she was pregnant "a few weeks ago" with Cam Holmes' child.
The star announced the tragic news in an Instagram post, recalling that she "collapsed in pain" and was rushed to hospital to get medical attention. She underwent surgery to take out her fallopian tube.
Her open and honest caption accompanied a string of photos and videos from her hospitalisation and recovery, including her drip and her hospital room.
She also posted a video of her boyfriend Cam brushing her hair. The couple met on season two of Netflix's Too Hot To Handle in 2021, and are the programme's only known couple to survive in the real world outside of the retreat from that year.
Emily was driven to a hospital on Tuesday, June 7.
"I laid on the table squeezing Cam's hand," she wrote, before explaining that she had been diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy.
"The 2 nurses were so silent. I asked if everything is ok and she replied 'I'm just going to get my colleague for a second opinion'. As the 3 nurses gathered round it was then they confirmed I had something called an ectopic pregnancy."
The British reality star said that she was "so scared", adding: "Not only was I about to lose my baby but I was about to have my fallopian tube removed with the potential of my ovary too. All I wanted to do was speak to my mum."
Emily said she went into surgery on Wednesday night, which was "extremely emotional".
She was discharged after the surgery, but added that in spite of the physical pain, "mentally it's been even harder".
"I can only urge girls to get an early pregnancy scan just to be on the safe side to rule out any kind of potential problems," she concluded. "Ectopic pregnancies affect around 1 in 100 pregnancies.
"Please don't ignore your body, love to you all."
According to the NHS, an ectopic pregnancy is an infrequent condition in which an embryo or fertilised egg implants itself outside of the uterus.
An ectopic pregnancy will always be fatal for a fertilised egg, as it cannot remain alive outside the womb. Left untreated, it can cause internal bleeding and infection for the mother.
