It Took Just One Very Public Ad Read for Quip to Drop Ben Shapiro

Today at the March for Life in Washington, D.C., the world's largest gathering of aborted fetus photos printed out and Scotch-taped to posterboard, guy-who-really-wants-to-debate-Alexandria-Ocasio-Cortez Ben Shapiro took the stage, mostly to talk about Baby Hitler, but also to read ads for various brands that sponsor his podcast that we wouldn't have otherwise known sponsor him, because life is short, and why would we listen to Ben Shapiro's podcast?

If you're not familiar with Shapiro's work, he's the guy who thinks identifying as transgender is a "mental disorder," calls the Arab Palestinian population "evil," and like a lot of Republicans, defended or quietly ignored racist Iowa senator/ghoul Steve King until about a week ago, when it was no longer popular to defend Steve King.

One of those sponsors he read for was Quip, a Brooklyn-based company that offers a mail-order subscription toothbrush model (with replacement heads every three months).

We reached out to Quip to see how they felt about this human elevator fart using a venue based on eliminating rights for women to promote what are some pretty good brushes.

Here's their response:

Our mission is to make good oral health more accessible to everyone, and podcast advertising is one way we’re able to realize this. However, following one of our ads being read in a venue we did not endorse, we have chosen to discontinue our advertising relationship with this show. We are also taking steps to ensure all of our advertising partners are aligned with our oral health mission and values.

On the downside, Ben Shapiro has 15 more seconds to talk.
