November brings a full lineup of events to Sarasota and Manatee counties along with more snowbirds and visitors making their return to the area, including musicians. The various performers set to visit Sarasota and Bradenton this week include a "Siberian surf rock" group, a Cuban jazz pianist, a Russian-born, New York City-based singer, and a Grammy-nominated "American Idol" finalist.

Of course, there'll be shows featuring some of the many talented musicians who call Florida home, too, including a Billboard chart-topping Blues Music Award nominee, an acclaimed folk singer-songwriter, and a popular reggae rock band. Here are this week's highlights. Event details are subject to change.

Siberian surf rock group Igor & Red Elvises closes out a string of local dates with a show at Bradenton's Birdrock Taco Shack, being held as part of Village of the Arts' Festival of the Skeletons. Igor Yuzov, who sought out forbidden rock and roll music while growing up in the former Soviet Union, founded Red Elvises after moving to the United States, releasing albums such as 1996's "Grooving to the Moscow Beat" and 1997's "Surfing in Siberia." Tallahassee-based folk singer-songwriter Grant Peeples will return to Fogartyville in Sarasota for a concert this weekend. Peeples is known both for his original songs as well as his renditions of other artists' material, particularly Bob Dylan, including a cover of "Things Have Changed" featuring Grammy-nominated blues singer-songwriter Ruthie Foster. Peeples will be joined at this Fogartyville show by T.C. "American Idol" season eight third-place finalist and Grammy-nominated contemporary Christian musician Danny Gokey visits Sarasota Baptist Church for a show this weekend, as he tours around last year's album "Jesus People." After competing on "American Idol," Gokey reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with his 2010 debut "My Best Days" before shifting from that album's country genre to Christian music, later earning three Contemporary Christian Music Album or Performance/Song Grammy nominations. Guitarist, singer-songwriter and former Anna Maria Island resident Damon Fowler will return to Big Top Brewing Company for this show held as part of the Sarasota brewery's Blues and Brews Sunday concert series. Fowler most recently released last year's full-length "Alafia Moon," which topped the Billboard blues albums chart and earned a Blues Music Award nomination for Blues Rock Album earlier this year. Along with his solo career, Fowler has also played in the supergroup Southern Hospitality with Grammy-nominated pianist Victor Wainwright and fellow Floridian J.P. Fogartyville also holds its 13th annual Very Merry Jerry Day this weekend, celebrating the Grateful Dead and its late frontman Jerry Garcia. St. Pete's The Joint Chiefs, who play original music and classic covers, perform along with Dead Uncle's Ship, an acoustic trio with members of three Grateful Dead tribute acts — Dead Set Florida, Uncle John's Band and Sarasota's own Ship of Fools. Jazz Club of Sarasota's Monday Night Jazz Cabaret concert series, featuring musicians in the genre performing Monday evenings in Florida Studio Theatre's John C. Court Cabaret, continues with Svetlana & Friends. The Russia-born jazz vocalist Svetlana is based in New York City, where she leads the swing band The Delancey Five that regularly plays speakeasy The Back Room. After performing at Gainesville's free The BASH music festival this weekend alongside artists such as Mavis Staples and Drive-By Truckers, Matt Woods and his band the Natural Disasters will play a headlining show at Bradenton's Cottonmouth. Also a regular performer at Gainesville's annual punk extravaganza Fest, the Tennessee-based singer-songwriter's sound blends the Americana and roots music of The BASH's lineup with the edge and DIY spirit of punk. On their way to play Reggae Fest FL in Boynton Beach on Nov. 12 alongside names such as The Original Wailers and Fortunate Youth, Orlando-based reggae rockers Kash'd Out will headline a concert at Big Top. Though hailing from Florida, Kash'd Out have quickly made a name for themselves nationally in the genre, with this year's single "Dirty Mind" featuring reggae rock favorites Pepper and Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime selecting them as a supporting act for their upcoming tour. Birdrock Taco Shack's live music lineup this week will also include Blues Music Award-winning singer-songwriter and harmonica player Curtis Salgado. Earlier this year, Salgado won his latest Blues Music Award in the Soul Blues Male Artist category as well as earning nominations for Instrumentalist — Vocals and Contemporary Blues Album for "Damage Control," his latest full-length for renowned blues label Alligator Records. Salgado is also known for inspiring The Blues Brothers, with their 1978 album "Briefcase Full of Blues" dedicated to him. Can't make this show? Cuban jazz pianist Chuchito Valdés, who's previously performed at Sarasota venues such as Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and Fogartyville, returns to the area for a concert at the latter. Valdés comes from a musical family that also includes his father Chucho Valdés, who's played Sarasota himself at The Ringling, and grandfather Bebo Valdés.
