April brings another packed week of events to Sarasota and Bradenton, including concerts. The musicians visiting our area include a four-time Grammy winner and her lead guitarist/husband, who were both inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last year, and a tour featuring four women with multiple Grammy wins and nominations between them.

Other notable concerts taking place locally this week include a pre-show that helps kick off a music festival taking place in St. Pete next week, a bash celebrating a Bradenton record store's nine-year anniversary, and a benefit show for a child diagnosed with leukemia. You'll find multiple genres represented throughout these concerts, including blues, punk, folk, rock, gospel, and even contemporary hits performed jazz and swing-style. Shortly before this year's Blues Music Awards ceremony in Memphis next month, where she's up for two awards, Miami blues singer-songwriter Kat Riggins will perform at Birdrock Taco Shack in Bradenton's Village of the Arts neighborhood near LECOM Park, where she played Bradenton Blues Festival in 2020. Riggins is nominated this year for Soul Blues Female Artist and Soul Blues Album for last year's "Progeny." Lost in St. Pete Pre-Show

Lost in St. Pete, the fourth annual music festival taking place April 27-30 throughout St. Petersburg with a lineup of largely punk acts including headliners Strike Anywhere, War on Women, Zulu, Soul Glo and Zeta, teams up with Bradenton venue Oscura to host this pre-show the week before. San Diego punk band Some Kind of Nightmare, who just released their newest EP "Critical Thoughts" earlier this month, will top the bill. Cottonmouth Southern Soul Kitchen, the sister restaurant and venue of Birdrock Taco Shack in the same Village of the Arts neighborhood, hosts an acclaimed blues artist itself this weekend: bassist and singer-songwriter Biscuit Miller. The charismatic performer, whose 2010 album was aptly titled "Blues with a Smile," won two Instrumentalist — Bass Blues Music Awards in 2017 and 2012. Postmodern Jukebox

Postmodern Jukebox, the musical collective that performs "today's hits yesterday," visits Van Wezel this weekend. Founded by pianist Scott Bradlee in 2011, the group performs songs in the style of early 20th century genres such as jazz and swing, with some of its most popular covers including Radiohead's "Creep," Tove Lo's "Habits (Stay High)" and The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army." Postmodern Jukebox has released numerous albums, several reaching the Top 5 of Billboard's jazz albums chart, with last year's "OldieFans" featuring re-imaginings of contemporary hits such as Dua Lipa's "Levitating," The Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face" and Olivia Rodrigo's "Drivers License." 7 p.m. Sunday; Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Fogartyville, one of the best places to see touring singer-songwriter acts locally, welcomes another such performer when Vance Gilbert visits the venue this weekend. The Massachusetts-based Gilbert has released albums starting from the 1980s to the modern day, most recently 2020's "Good Good Man." Oscura's live music lineup this weekend will also include this event celebrating nine years in operation for Village of the Arts record shop Jerk Dog Records. Performing at the show will be St. Pete punks Razor and the Boogie Men, Palmetto garage/psych rockers Domino Pink, Bradenton lo-fi musician Sir Sympathy, and Las Nadas, "a gaggle of old people playing punk rock music" whose members include Jerk Dog Records owner Douglas Holland. J.R.'s Old Packinghouse Cafe will host this benefit show for Jocelyn Taylor Alvis, who was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia in April 2022 when she was six years old and is facing three years of chemotherapy and specialized care. Sarasota area musicians including the Alvis Brothers Band, Callie Chappell, The Chillbillies, Mumbo Jumbo with Kara Nally and Jeremy Egglefield, Old Glory Band and Stumble Creek will perform on two stages. After being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last year, Pat Benatar and her husband/guitarist Neil Giraldo will come to Sarasota for a concert at Van Wezel. Benatar rose to fame in the late '70s and '80s, when she released hits such as "Heartbreaker," "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," "Love is a Battlefield" and "We Belong," and won four consecutive Best Female Rock Vocal Performance Grammys. Giraldo has performed on every Benatar record and produced most of them, with his other collaborations including playing on Rick Springfield's hit 1981 album "Working Class Dog" and Rick Derringer's 1979 full-length "Guitars and Women." 7:30 p.m. Monday; Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. A tour featuring an all-women quartet of Christian and gospel singers with multiple Grammy wins and nominations comes to Bayside Community Church. Naomi Raine, a member of Maverick City Music, won four Grammys this year alone for best album and performance/song in the gospel and contemporary Christian music genres. She'll be joined by Tasha Cobbs Leonard, who won the Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance Grammy for the song "Break Every Chain," and Natalie Grant, a nine-time Grammy nominee and winner of four consecutive Female Vocalist of the Year GMA Dove Awards. Kip Winger, lead singer, bassist and namesake of the rock band Winger turned solo musician, visits Sarasota brewery and venue Big Top Brewing Company for an "unplugged" concert. After a stint in Alice Cooper's band in the 1980s, the musician found success with Winger, earning two platinum albums with their 1988 self-titled debut and 1990's "In the Heart of the Young" and two Top 20 hits with "Miles Away" and "Headed for a Heartbreak." He later pursued a solo career that, interestingly enough, has included classical music in recent years, earning a Best Contemporary Classical Composition Grammy nomination for 2016's "Conversations with Nijinsky." 6 p.m. Thursday, April 27; Big Top Brewing Company, 975 Cattlemen Road, Sarasota; $22; 941-371-2939; bigtopbrewing.com
