Here are the top 10 elementary and middle schools in Wisconsin, according to U.S News & World Report

Top elementary and middle schools across Wisconsin were ranked by U.S. News & World Report after it assessed nearly 85,000 elementary, middle and high school in the nation.

Elementary and middle schools were assessed on the number of their students who were proficient or above proficient on their mathematics and reading/language arts state assessments, according to the report.

Half the formula assessed test scores, and the other half incorporated test results in the context of socioeconomic demographics. There isn't a national ranking, and rankings are calculated at the state and district level.

Here's the top 10 elementary schools and top 10 middle schools in Wisconsin, according to the U.S. News & World Report:

1. Mill Valley Elementary: Muskego-Norway School District (Muskego), serving prekindergarten through fourth grade

2. Kohler Elementary: Kohler School District (Kohler), serving prekindergarten through fifth grade

3. Wauwatosa Stem: Wauwatosa School District (Wauwatosa), serving kindergarten through fifth grade

4. Marcy Elementary: Hamilton School District (Menomonee Falls), serving kindergarten through fourth grade

5. Shorewood Hills Elementary: Madison Metropolitan School District (Madison), serving prekindergarten through fifth grade

6. Parkview Elementary: Cedarburg School District (Cedarburg), serving prekindergarten through fifth grade

7. Houlton Elementary: Hudson School District (Houlton), serving kindergarten through fifth grade

8. Lakeview Elementary: Muskego-Norway School District (Wind Lake), serving prekindergarten through fourth grade
