Top 10 Takeover dining series: Tickets for Bellflower on sale Thursday for subscribers
As the Free Press continues its Top 10 Takeover dinner series tour, which allows diners to celebrate the 2022 10 Best New Restaurants, Restaurant of the Year Classic and Restaurant of the Year, there’s a bonus this year.
In February, Freep honored four restaurants that made their debut in late 2019 and into 2020, to recognize some of the best establishments to open at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our editors then called on you, readers, to vote for one special restaurant to have an opportunity to participate in this year’s Top 10 Takeover series. The winner was – drumroll, please – Bellflower, the Ypsilanti eatery inspired by the Cajun and Creole cuisines of Louisiana.

Tickets for the Sept. 13 dinner go on sale at noon Thursday for Freep subscribers, with general ticket sales to follow at noon Friday.
Bellflower is best known for its bold flavors, seafood dishes and unexpected cuts of meat. At the minimalist restaurant, there’s also a popular sandwich counter that slings Po’Boys and fried smelt sandwiches made on house-baked milk bread, as well as a wine shop with a collection of bubbles, whites, reds and rose.
Attendees at Bellflower’s Top 10 Takeover dinner will have an opportunity to taste executive chef Dan Klenotic’s masterful range from veggie-forward dishes sourced from local farms to a smoked pork collar ham.

First course: Scalloped tomatoes with Good Neighbor Farm tomatoes and cucumbers
Second course: Crispy fried local vegetable fritters (vegetarian, contains peanuts)
Third course: Smoked pork collar ham with accoutrements
Fourth course: Bread pudding with caramel sauce
