In the last few years, Detroit's Avenue of Fashion has also become an avenue of new eateries — and the storied thoroughfare is the next stop on the Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Top 10 Takeover dining series.

On June 20, the Takeover series heads to Petty Cash on Livernois in Detroit's Green Acres neighborhood. Petty Cash landed at the No. 5 spot on the list of Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers 10 Best New Restaurants and More.

Petty Cash is the second restaurant from Ron Bartell, a former NFL player. Bartell also owns nearby popular spot Kuzzo's Chicken and Waffles — an alum of the 2016 Free Press best new restaurant list.

On its website, Petty Cash describes itself as a "soulful neighborhood cocktail & small plates destination on Detroit’s Avenue of Fashion." The eatery serves up lunch, dinner and brunch along with specialty cocktails.

The Petty Cash Top 10 Takeover event will have two seatings — at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. — and feature a four-course menu plus dessert. A vegetarian option will be available. Beverages and cocktails will also be available.

Tickets are $63 per person and include tax, gratuity and a $3 donation to Forgotten Harvest, which helps fight food insecurity in metro Detroit. Visit freep.com/top10 for tickets.

Tickets for the event went on sale for Free Press subscribers at noon Thursday, with general ticket sales for the public to follow at noon Friday.

The Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers are offering a chance to win two tickets for each event. To enter the contest, go to chevydetroit.com/top10.

At the Top 10 Takeover events, guests will have an opportunity to engage with Detroit Free Press staffers, including Green and food writer Susan Selasky. For those who wish to donate, the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers will also have a collection box where canned goods and other nonperishable food items can be donated to Forgotten Harvest.
