The Films of Stanley Kramer and Spencer Tracy

Award-winning educator James Griswold returns to Rancho Mirage Public Library with a weekly series of classic films by Director Stanley Kramer, featuring Spencer Tracy. Griswold will introduce each film and follow-up each screening with an informal "talk-back" session. This week will be "Inherit The Wind," based on the famous Scopes trial of 1925.

Martinis and Moxie: 'Bye Bye Birdie'

Alan Kraemer, Claudia Ried and a few other special guests present the fall season of Martinis and Moxie. The cocktail hour will feature live music, light bites, a martini bar and casino games. Following the cocktail hour will be a screening of "Bye Bye Birdie."

Free Concerts in the Park

The Free Concerts in the Park series is returning to Palm Desert with four shows throughout the month of October. This week, the Blue Breeze Band will perform Motown, R & B, soul, funk and dance.

'The Alexanders' Book Signing with Author James Harlan

Modernism Week is back with a smaller four-day festival featuring more than 50 events, including several free and low-cost programs. This free event will feature a book signing by James Harlan, author of "The Alexanders," which dives into midcentury architecture in Palm Springs produced by the Alexander Construction Company.

'First Light - Then Shadow' Opening

Modernism Week and the Melissa Morgan Fine Art gallery presents the opening reception of "First Light - Then Shadow," featuring artworks by award-winning architect Leo Marmol. The reception will include a Q&A and remarks by former Palm Springs art Museum Executive Director Dr. Steve Nash.

Palm Springs Certified Farmers Market

The Palm Springs Certified Farmers Market is back outdoors for the season. The farmers market features California-grown fresh food products, chef demonstrations and entertainment.

Yum Fest

Need dinner plans? Yum Fest is back with the open-air night market experience with food trucks, food pop-ups, sweets, treats, drinks and culture/artisan vendors. There will be a kids zone, live music from DJs, bands and entertainers. A full bar is available for those 21 and up.

Palm Springs Rewinds: Tim Burton's 'Ed Wood'

Palm Springs Rewinds is an ongoing film series featuring film screenings from acclaimed contemporary directors. This week, the Palm Springs Cultural Center will screen "Ed Wood."

'Titanic The Musical'

Bonus Event: Indigenous Peoples Day

Idyllwild Arts honors "Indigenous Peoples Day" with a day-long event at their Idyllwild campus. This event will creatively celebrate the many contributions Indigenous People make to humanity. The day coincides with the launch of two exhibitions from Cheyenne Randall and Erika Harrsch, organized by independent curator Erin Joyce.
