South Pasadena Lighted Boat Parade: Kicks off at 6:30 p.m. on the northeast side of Pasadena Isle just outside MarineMax St. Petersburg, then follows the coastline of South Pasadena, going under the Corey Causeway bridge, then through the inlets near Harbourside Condominiums and Bay Island Condominiums, ending behind Causeway Village and The Fountains. Old Fashioned Christmas and Holiday Parade: Watch Santa arrive during the Holiday Street Parade then stay downtown for the festivities along Main Street and Broadway. There will be carriage rides, train rides, a snow slide, kids crafts, games, storytelling, face painting, street performers and singers, snow flurries, visits with Santa Claus and live music by Late Night Brass. The Automat: Catch a screening of Lisa Hurwitz’s “The Automat,” a new documentary about Horn & Hardart, the beloved restaurant chain in New York City and Philadelphia that revolutionized American dining a century ago. Restaurant patrons inserted nickels into slots, and slices of lemon meringue pie, mac and cheese, baked beans, creamed spinach and more magically appeared from a grid of gleaming chrome windows. Then, there was the eatery’s signature 5-cent coffee, cascading from ornate dolphin-headed spouts. Includes a slice of pie and coffee. Jingle Bell Run: This is the 40th year and the biggest fundraiser for the Boley Centers, which provides affordable housing for vulnerable residents, including veterans, the homeless and the mentally disabled. You’ll see runners in Santa hats and full costumes as they make their way through a lighted maze with live bands along the path and even “snow” flurries.
