Top 25 times on the IHSA state finals cross country course at Detweiller Park in Peoria
Running fans far and wide will soon descend upon Detweiller Park in Peoria.
The Illinois High School Association state cross country meet returns to historic 3-mile course for a 52nd year on Saturday.
Two of the course's fastest times came within the last seven years: Naperville North's Judy Pendergast clocked in 15:54 set the girls record in 2015. On the boys side, Josh Methner of Arlington Heights Hersey broke Craig Virgin's longstanding mark (13:50.6 set in 1972) with a record-setting 13:49.86 run in 2019.
Here are the top 25 times — 15 boys and 10 girls — run on the Detweiller Park course so far in 2022:

The junior ran 14:03.5 at the Peoria High Invitational on Oct. 1.
2. Camyn Viger, Plainfield South
The junior ran 14:22.8 at the First to the Finish Invitational on Sept. 10.
3. Zac Close, Naperville Neuqua Valley
The junior ran 14:34.0 at the Peoria High Invitational on Oct. 1.

4. Riley Newport, DeKalb
The senior ran 14:36.9 at the First to the Finish Invitational on Sept. 10.
5. Gavin Genisio, Benton
The junior ran 14:37.1 at the Peoria High Invitational on Oct. 1
6. Mario Torres, Buffalo Grove
The senior ran 14:40.7 at the First to the Finish Invitational on Sept. 10.
