While there may not be a huge amount of notable concerts in our area this week, sometimes quality is more important than quantity. This week's live music picks feature acclaimed and award-winning artists such as a string quartet that was among this year's Grammy winners, making their debut at the returning Sarasota Music Festival.

Even the Florida musicians this week have earned national attention, including a group that was nominated for four Blues Music Awards last year and a guitar prodigy who was spotlighted on the now-off-the-air "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." Plus, another Sarasota band holds a release show at Bradenton's Oscura, joined by two St. Pete bands, including one that's been showcased by legendary punk bassist Mike Watt. Here are this week's highlights. Event details are subject to change.
