Honky tonk man

Dwight Yoakam has had such a successful acting career ("Sling Blade," "Panic Room," "Crank," "Cry Macho") that it's easy to forget that he's really a country singer with 21 Grammy nominations and 25 million records sold. He's at the Florida Theatre at 8 p.m. Friday. $49.50-$94.50.

Letters to me

Evan Hansen has a hard time fitting in, so the teen writes letters to himself. Doesn't sound like the plot of a hit Broadway musical, but it is. "Dear Evan Hansen" wraps up its Jacksonville run with shows at 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 and 7 p.m. Sunday at the Times-Union Center. $55-$139.

All aboard!

You can't go very far in the Jacksonville area without running into water, which seems as good a reason as any to get a boat. Find the vessel that fits your needs (or find accessories for the one you already have) at the Jacksonville Boat Show Saturday and Sunday at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. $15.

End of the road

Bill Engvall is fixin' to hand out his last sign. The longtime standup comic/sitcom star/Blue Collar Comedy veteran is on his farewell tour, which includes an 8 p.m. Saturday show at the Thrasher-Horne Center in Orange Park. $49-$129.

8 seconds of terror

It can't be easy to be a professional bull rider, especially when you have to face off against "the sport’s rankest bovine athletes" on a weekly basis. The PBR Jacksonville Invitational pits 40 of the best riders in the world against some of meanest bulls they can find. It's at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena at 7 p.m. Saturday. $15-$35.
