Grammy-nominated Brazilian jazz guitarist Diego Figueiredo returns to the Sarasota area this week at Fogartyville. Local jazz fans may remember Figueiredo, praised as "one of the greatest guitarists I've seen in my whole life" by George Benson, from his performances at Sarasota Jazz Festival and elsewhere locally. Farseek and Kerosene Heights

Bradenton venue Oscura, which closed its original location in 2020 before recently relocating to a larger new space, will host a show by a band that previously played Oscura's old location: Farseek, joined by tour-mates Kerosene Heights. The two groups, based respectively in Georgia and North Carolina, play a style of music that should appeal to fans of late '00s/early '10s DIY emo-punk acts such as Glocca Morra, Summer Vacation and Snowing. Ska Fest featuring The Supervillains

Sarasota brewery and venue Big Top Brewing Company hosts a ska fest featuring one of the biggest names in the genre that calls Florida home, The Supervillains. The group has made a national name for itself both with its original tracks, releasing the new EP "Drones" last year, along with ska/reggae-ified covers of songs such as Billy Joel's "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)," George Michael's "Careless Whisper" and Pixies "Where is My Mind?" J.P. Soars and the Red Hots

South Florida blues guitarist and singer-songwriter J.P. Soars and the Red Hots, which received four Blues Music Awards nominations this year, continues a string of local dates at Bradenton's Cottonmouth. The group was nominated for Band of the Year, with Soars also earning nods for Instrumentalist – Guitar and B.B. King Entertainer of the Year, and bandmate Chris Peet nominated for Instrumentalist – Drums. Fogartyville's live music lineup this week is also set to feature renowned fingerstyle guitarist and singer-songwriter Christie Lenée. The awards Lenée has received include winning first place at the International Finger Style Guitar Championship in 2017 and being named Acoustic Guitarist of the Year in an international competition in 2019. Sean Chambers

Blues-rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Sean Chambers is set to play Punta Gorda pub and venue Celtic Ray this weekend. Chambers lives in the area, but he's performed and cultivated a fanbase nationally, including touring with late blues great Hubert Sumlin as his bandleader and guitarist for years and reaching No. 9 on the Billboard blues album chart with his 2018 full-length "Welcome to My Blues." He most recently released last year's "That's What I'm Talkin About: Tribute to Hubert Sumlin," paying homage to his friend and mentor, which also reached No. 10 on the Billboard blues album chart. 9 p.m. Saturday; Celtic Ray Public House, 145 E.
