See the top 7 panoramic views from Sacramento-area homes. What’s your favorite?

What view would you most want to see from the window or balcony of your Sacramento-area home?

Perhaps, the American River. Maybe, the Tower Bridge over the Sacramento River. How about all the way to the mountains of Lake Tahoe?

The downtown skyline might make your list. Folsom Lake wouldn’t be too shabby either, would it?

Over the past year or so, the Sacramento Bee has toured several rooms with views. Now, we’ve come up with a list of the seven best vistas in the entire region from a residential property.

Starting downtown, let’s take a peek. (See video above)

Downtown Sacramento

This penthouse atop the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel in downtown Sacramento has unobstructed views of nearly every landmark around: Renaissance Tower skyscraper, the State Capitol, the Sacramento River, Tower Bridge, The Ziggurat in West Sacramento, J Street, the Railyards, the Museum of Science and Curiosity and, on a clear day, the mountaintops of Lake Tahoe.

The Sacramento Bee spent part of an afternoon at 500 J St., Unit 1801, one of the luxury hotel’s 45 residences, as part of our My Guest series spotlighting our favorite home features. The downtown penthouse was listed for sale for $4.385 million but is currently off the market. It is the most expensive condominium ever listed in Sacramento, according to Coldwell Banker realty.

Kimpton residents have access to Golden 1 Center, home of the Sacramento Kings basketball team, via a private tunnel. The dramatic penthouse has an open-concept layout that spans nearly 3,000 square feet with expansive floor-to-ceiling, wraparound windows that allow natural light to flood into the space. There is white-oak, wide plank floors and wool carpeting. It also has a kitchen with quartz countertops.

Auburn

A newly built, modern, three-story home in the Auburn Bluffs, which first hit the market in the summer, offers unobstructed views of rolling hills, Folsom Lake and the Sacramento skyline — some 30 miles away.

The sweeping panoramic vista from every level of the house is the major selling point, but modern amenities and finishes throughout the home are impressive, as well. The 3,100-square-foot residence — at 1146 Lantern View in Auburn, California — has re-listed for $1.39 million. With four bedrooms and three baths, the house sits atop a hill on more than a third of an acre.

Michael Yarmolyuk of 1st Choice Realty & Associates is the listing agent.

Pilot Hill in El Dorado County

One of the most remarkable homes in the Sacramento region — a modern hilltop estate with vast views of the American River, Folsom Lake and the Sierra Nevada — is on the market with a sale price of $2.895 million.

The unobstructed views from every room are the centerpiece of this high-tech El Dorado County estate, built in 2012, at 1301 Hound Hollow Road in the small community of Pilot Hill. However, there’s much, much more to the property, which sits on 40 private acres surrounded by oak woodland.

Other impressive features of the home, called Casa Bella Verde, include:

A resort-like, infinity-edge pool, which wraps around the entire back of the estate, with an island hot tub and swim-up bar;

A 40-foot skybridge from the main residence to a luxurious, 1,365-square-foot guest house;

A helipad and six-car garage.

Brooke Bodtker of Coldwell Bank Realty is the listing agent.

Fair Oaks

A Fair Oaks condominium that hit the market in May takes in million-dollar views extending from the American River to the downtown Sacramento skyline — without the multi-million-dollar price tag of other cliff-side residences.

The 1,850-square-foot condo sitting on the bluffs over Sailor Bar is listed for $679,000. Fairly nondescript curbside, the two-level residence dramatically unfolds front to back. The home is entered through a large, peaceful, tropical courtyard. The interior presents a Spanish-style decor with ancient peach Travertine flooring throughout.

Located at 8748 Bluff Lane, the condo’s custom interior design, craftsmanship and extensive, hand-placed mosaic tile work was all done by longtime owner Rick Crandall, a charismatic Sacramento-area artist, designer and actor.

Angela Gitt of Lyon Realty is the listing agent.

Folsom

A newly finished Folsom home with vast views of the downtown Sacramento skyline, which is on the market for $2.395 million, has drawn a ton of attention in the neighborhood and on social media.

The futuristic-looking house, which can be seen from Highway 50, has caught people’s attention for years during its multi-year construction. Now that it’s ready to sell, they’re driving by the house or jumping online to get a better glimpse.

“Space luxe is here — the future is now, and this is the coolest house ever built in Sacramento,” said listing agent Kim Pacini Hauch of Re/Max Gold. “It’s very forward-thinking.”

The modern home at 312 Tobrurry Way spans 4,000 square feet and has four en-suite bedrooms. Two cantilevered bedrooms — the focal points of the architecture — extend beyond the main structure. The bedrooms have long decks offering views from Folsom to the valley.

Loomis

A custom-built Loomis mansion is for sale for $4.25 million with a host of captivating amenities, including a 600-foot trail through a landscaped garden, frog, koi and turtle ponds and an infinity edge pool with expansive Folsom Lake views.

Inside the home, however, you might miss a feature fit for royalty — if you don’t look up. Hand-painted frescoes adorn the ceiling coving in the primary bedroom suite.

The refined five-bedroom, five-bathroom home at 9692 Sterling Pointe Court spans 7,194 square feet. The listing agent is Deanna Erdman of Guide Real Estate.

With the front door open, guests can look straight through the entrance and out to the pool and the green hills that lead down to where the north fork of the American River meets Folsom Lake.

Davis

There are beautiful luxury estates and then there’s the one-of-a-kind masterpiece that Grayson Beck built in Davis. The inventor, engineer and entrepreneur’s thoughtfully imagined, exquisitely constructed, resort-style home recently sold for $4 million.

The main house, 27681 Mace Blvd., measures 7,225 square feet with four bedrooms and four bathrooms. In the large family room, a 39-foot vaulted ceiling with gorgeous wood beams soars above a large fireplace and cathedral windows. Conveniently located next to the gourmet kitchen, a comfortable home theater offers luxurious chairs and tiered seating. An upper-level game area contains a wet bar. The wine room, also off the kitchen, holds 2,500 bottles and boasts back-lit onyx counters.

The views, however, come from a jaw-dropping, five-story “observation tower” that provides endless 360-degree views from the snow-capped Sierra in the east to the coastal mountains to the west. The tall turret is where July 4 fireworks shows can be watched from as far away as Sacramento.
