Here are the top Central Minnesota high school athletes for Jan. 12-18

Over the past week, some standout individual performances helped Central Minnesota high school sports teams. And these performances aren't going unnoticed.

Here are some of the St. Cloud area's top performers from Jan. 12-18:

Boys basketball

  • Sartell's Mason Lund scored 23 points, 11 rebounds and two steals in the 67-62 loss to Brainerd on Thursday.

  • Tech's Donald Ferguson III finished with 25 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals in the 67-59 win over ROCORI on Thursday.

  • Sartell's Anthony Mahowald scored 22 points in the 84-68 win over Detroit Lakes on Saturday.

  • Cathedral's Jordan Schumann had 20 points in the 68-51 win over Milaca on Tuesday.

Girls basketball

  • St. Cloud's Jayna Benson finished Thursday night with 23 points, 13 rebounds and one assist in the 52-47 loss against Brainerd.

  • Sauk Rapids-Rice's Grace Roesch recorded 20 points, two rebounds, one steal and three assists in the 51-48 loss to Delano on Tuesday.

Gymnastics

  • Sartell's Ella Simmons earned first place in the all-around with a score of 36.475 as the Sabres won 139.075-138.75 over St. Cloud on Thursday. She also finished first at floor (9.275), beam (9.1) and vault (9.3).

  • St. Cloud's Cate Zack finished Thursday night in second place at all-around with a 34.725 score. The Crush lost 139.075-138.75 against Sartell as Zack also finished second at beam (8.95).

  • Sauk Rapids-Rice's Carley Weisenbeck finished second in all-around with a 33.250 score on Tuesday as Alexandria won 130.250-126.450. The junior earned an 8.8 on vault, 8.4 on beam and 8.45 on floor.

Adapted floor hockey

  • St. Cloud's Cyrus Heins scored five goals and two assists in the 16-1 win over St. Michael-Albertville on Tuesday.

Boys hockey

  • Sartell's Noah Hacker saved 35 of the 38 shots on Saturday in the 3-1 loss to Moorhead.

Girls hockey

  • Sartell/Sauk Rapids-Rice's Morgan Dorn saved 31 of the 33 shots in the 2-0 loss to Bemidji on Thursday.

  • River Lakes had a trio of players contribute in the 6-0 win over Bemidji on Saturday. Kianna Roeske and Sophia Hess each scored two goals, while Kaydence Roeske earned 21 saves and a shutout as goalie.

  • River Lakes' Kaydence Roeske saved 21 shots and recorded a shutout in the 3-0 win over Buffalo on Tuesday.

Nordic skiing

  • Sartell/Cathedral's Annabelle Tautges and Emma Jamison finished first and second in the girls race on Thursday at St. John's University. Tautges had a time of 16:06.78 and Jamison finished with a 16:20.62 t

Boys swimming and diving

  • Sauk Rapids-Rice’s Noah Blodgett finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:52.78) and 100 freestyle (50.01) in the 99-81 win over Apollo on Thursday.

  • Apollo’s Jack Cvancara finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.89) and fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:20.63) in the 99-81 loss to Sauk Rapids-Rice on Thursday.

  • Apollo’s Hunter Jokinen finished second in the 100 butterfly (56.39) and third in the 50 freestyle (23.87) as the Eagles finished third at the Section 3A true team meet on Saturday.

  • Sauk Rapids-Rice’s Cash Walz finished first in the 500 freestyle (5:12.49) and second in the 200 individual medley (2:05.61) as the Storm finished fifth at the Section 3A true team meet on Saturday.

  • Tech/Cathedral/ROCORI’s Micah Davis finished first in the 200 individual medley (2:03.11) and second in the 100 butterfly (52.86) as the coop finished fifth at the Section 8AA true team meet on Saturday.

  • Sartell’s David Binsfeld finished fourth in the 1-meter diving (354.25) as the Sabres finished six at the Section 8AA true team meet on Saturday.

  • Sauk Rapids-Rice's Hayden Zabinski finished first in the 100 butterfly (1:00.41) and 200 individual medley (2:17.67) in the 94-90 win over Monticello on Tuesday.

  • Sartell’s Truett Carlson finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:53.60) and second in the 100 freestyle (52.34) in the 99-82 loss against Hutchinson on Tuesday.

Wrestling

  • St. Cloud's Jaxon Kenning, Andy Johnson, Sutton Kenning and Tucker Hugg each recorded pins in the 39-35 win over Brainerd on Thursday.

  • Albany's Nathan Kollmann, Owen Carlson, Devin Hansen, Spencer Kollmann, Hunter Tate and Declan Crumley finished with pins in the 54-22 win over Milaca on Thursday.

  • Sauk Rapids-Rice's Logan Culbertson and Brayden Ness had pins in the 40-39 win over Chisago Lakes on Friday.

  • ROCORI had four wrestlers that finished strong in the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Invite on Saturday. Austin Moscho (152 pounds) finished first in his weight class, while Evan Moscho (145), Matthew Goebel (195) and Grady Minnerath (220) each placed second.

  • Albany had five wrestlers end Saturday with some key placements at the Alexandria Big Ole Invitational. Declan Crumley (195 pounds) and Jacob Adrian (285) each placed first in their respective weight classes, while Devin Hansen (132), Peyton Krumrei (160) and Hunter Tate (170) ended up in second place.

  • Sauk Rapids-Rice's Brayden Ness earned a pin in the 72-10 loss against New Prague on Saturday in the Kiffmeyer Duals.

  • Sauk Rapids-Rice's Josiah Sanchez recorded a pin in the 69-9 loss against Cambridge-Isanti on Saturday in the Kiffmeyer Duals.

  • St. Cloud's Jaxon Kenning, Aidan Orth, Sam Long, Cody Brott and Tucker Hugg helped contribute with pins in the 37-37 tie against Cambridge-Isanti on Saturday in the Kiffmeyer Duals.

  • St. Cloud's Jaxon Kenning, Cody Brott and Sutton Kenning each recorded a pin in the 50-18 loss against Willmar on Saturday in the Kiffmeyer Duals.

  • St. Cloud's Jaxon Kenning had a pin in the 37-28 win over Foley on Saturday in the Kiffmeyer Duals.

  • Sartell's Spencer Johnson finished with a pin in the 36-31 win over Little Falls on Tuesday.
