Top Fayetteville-area wrestlers at conference tournament championships

Three high school wrestling teams in Cumberland County won championships over the weekend.

Jack Britt swept the titles in the United 8 Conference Tournament at Lumberton and the Pine Forest boys secured top honors in the All American Conference Tournament at Westover.

Overall, the Fayetteville area had 92 wrestlers earn a top-4 finish at the conference tournament meets, according to results compiled from TrackWrestling.com.

Here’s a look at the wrestlers who nabbed a spot on the podium.

Cape Fear

  • Samuel Aponte: He finished first in the 106-pound weight class.

  • Landon Sargent: He took top honors in the 220-pound weight class.

  • Kejuan Payton: He finished fourth in the 145-pound weight class.

  • Robert Moore: He took third at 195 pounds.

  • Naara Peralta: She finished second at 152 pounds.

Douglas Byrd

  • Cristian Rothrock: He finished first in the 132-pound weight class.

  • William Sullivan: He took top honors at 145 pounds.

  • Cristian Romoz: He finished third in the 138-pound weight class.
