Top Fayetteville track and field performers at NCHSAA, NCISAA state championships

The Fayetteville area had 17 track and field athletes produce impressive individual performances at the NCHSAA and NCISAA state championship meets.

Fayetteville Christian paced Cumberland County with five individual champions at the NCISAA Division III meet in Gastonia. The Warriors also had a pair of relay teams take top honors.

The Cape Fear boys and E.E. Smith girls led the way at the NCHSAA meet with gold-medal finishes in relay races.

Here's a look at who earned a top-5 finish.

NCISAA Division III

Zoe Dorsey, Fayetteville Academy: An eighth grader, Dorsey left Gastonia with three medals. She won gold in the 400- and 800-meter races, and added a silver medal in the 200.

Amari Pearson, Fayetteville Academy: Pearson finished with three gold medals. The senior took first in the high jump and long jump before helping the 4x200 relay team secure gold.

Kalil Dennison, Fayetteville Academy: The junior won a pair of silver medals for his finishes in the 100 and 200.

Garek Dixon, Fayetteville Academy: The sophomore took top honors in the shot put to round out the Eagles’ top individual performers in the field events.

Jashon Alford, Fayetteville Academy: The junior finished fourth in the 400.

Nehemiah Williamson, Trinity Christian: Williamson took bronze in the 100.

Michael Ross, Trinity Christian: Ross finished fourth in the 100 and fifth in the 200.

Fayetteville Academy boys: The Eagles won gold in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays.

Trinity Christian boys: The Crusaders took silver in the 4x100 relay.

NCISAA Division II

Demaree Clark, Fayetteville Christian: The junior won a state title in the high jump and finished fifth in the 400.

Dezzy Clark, Fayetteville Christian: Clark capped her freshman season with a state championship in the long jump.

Isabella Bailey, Fayetteville Christian: Bailey won a pair of bronze medals with third-place finishes in the 300 hurdles and triple jump.

Victoria Harrison, Fayetteville Christian: The eighth grader finished third in the 200 and 400.

Alex Kardouni, Fayetteville Christian: Kardouni took fourth in the 400.

Evan Bailey, Fayetteville Christian: Bailey secured a fifth-place finish in the long jump to round out the Warriors’ top individual performances.

Fayetteville Christian boys: The Warriors finished second in the 4x400 relay. They took fourth in the 4x100 and fifth in the 4x200.

Fayetteville Christian girls: They won two bronze medals for their finishes in the 4x100 and 4x200.

NCHSAA 3A

Senai Phillips, Seventy-First: Phillips won bronze in the 100 hurdles and finished fifth in the 300.

A’Jaylah Yates, Seventy-First: The junior finished fifth in the 100 and 200.

E.E. Smith girls: The Golden Bulls took top honors in the 4x400 relay. Danielle Bause, Briyana Tillman, Armani Kee and Holley Johnson helped secure the gold medal.

Cape Fear boys: The Colts won gold in the 4x200 relay. Yazeare Pearsall, Devonte Hill, Raysean Hunter and Nathan Williams ran the four legs.

NCHSAA 4A

JaMeesia Ford, Jack Britt: Ford won silver in the 100 and followed with a bronze-medal finish in the 400.

Kenya Hall, Gray's Creek: Hall put a bow on her prep career with a fourth-place finish in the discus.
