The top five six-man high school football teams in the Texas Panhandle after one week

1. FOLLETT

From fifth to first in one week? You're right, that is a big jump. But that's what happens when four teams in front of you lose and you beat an opponent 60-0. That's what Follett did to Hedley and that's why.

2. GROOM

Like the other members of our top four, the Tigers were defeated to start the season. However, they don't move down as they fell just 38-36 to a talented White Deer team.

3. VALLEY

Ditto goes for Valley. They remain at third after losing just 30-26 to Garden City.

4. WILDORADO

From unranked to fourth, and the Mustangs could very easily be higher on this list. After all, they opened the season with a 64-12 win, even if it came against a Lefors team that's expected to struggle this year.

5. WHITE DEER

If we did a top ten, Happy and Springlake-Earth would still be ranked. But Happy lost 62-16 to Westbrook and Springlake-Earth was defeated by Whitharral 72-32. That sends them both out of the rankings. Meanwhile, White Deer, who would've been in our top ten last week if we ranked that many, got the 38-36 win over our No. 2 team. If White Deer keeps it up, they'll be ranked higher than fifth next week.
