TOP OF THEIR GAME: Several Sooner State hoop coaching greats receive OBCA spotlight

Five Oklahoma boys hoops coaching legends are in line for the ultimate recognition by the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association.

Tommy Griffin, Donnie Husband, Lee Reimer, Ken Trickey and Donnie Tuley will fill a spot on the honored rollcall of the OBCA Hall of Fame.

The induction banquet is scheduled for June 4 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Edmond.

A social hour is set for 11 a.m. to noon, followed by the meal and ceremony.

Trickey — who is being honored posthumously — excelled on both the college and prep level.

In 1974 he guided Oral Roberts University to the NCAA Elite Eight. He also coached at Claremore Junior College among this multiple college stops and at Muskogee High School.

Griffin is the father of NBA player Blake Griffin.

Tommy Griffin has coached six state championship teams, including four straight (2004-07) at Oklahoma Christian School.

During the 2004-05 season, Griffin’s OCS squad handed Bartlesville High just one of its three losses that season.

Husband was a two-time state champion (2013 and 2014) at Latta High. Among his many other coaching stops was Blackwell. Most recently he has worked at Greenwood High (Ark.).

Reimer coached for 32 seasons (1984-2015) at Purcell High and then moved on to Asher. He has one two state titles (1984, Medford; 1994, Purcell).

Tuley spent more than 32 years coaching at Oklahoma City Capitol Hill and has coached nine seasons as the head men’s coach at Seminole State.
