It's official—Top Gun: Maverick is now the 7th highest-grossing film ever at the domestic box office.
Paramount's blockbuster sunk the iconic Titanic for the spot, earning $662 million so far in ticket sales. The film just had a seven million dollar weekend after eleven weeks of going strong, which put it over the edge to claim No. 7 on the list of major money-making movies.
The sequel to the 1986 hit was already Tom Cruise’s highest-grossing film and first-ever billion dollar movie, so this is another major win for the actor.
Holding the top six spots ahead of it are three of Marvel Studios' sensations—Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther and Avengers: Endgame—Avatar, Spider Man: No Way Home and Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.
Titanic, Jurassic World, and 2012's The Avengers round out the last three spots of Hollywood's current top ten most successful at the U.S. box office.
While Top Gun: Maverick continues to soar, 60-year-old Cruise has plenty of things to look forward to, as he has no plans to slow down any time soon. Keeping him busy these days are the multiple projects he reportedly has in the works. Among them, Mission: Impossible 8, an original musical and an outer space film with NASA and Elon Musk’s SpaceX, per Deadline.
