Here are the top high school athletic performers in Saline County for week of May 9
Three weeks remaining in the high school athletic season for the 2021-22 school year.
Boys tennis has its state tournaments on Friday and Saturday. League track meets are also this week.
School records in track and state qualifiers for tennis highlight this week's list. Top performers from Salina Central's track invitational from Friday can be found here.

Here's this week's top performers for week of May 9.
Dylan Sprecker, Southeast of Saline track and field
Sprecker set the Southeast record in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:15.72. He also won the 400-meter dash (50.31) and was a part of the 1,600-meter relay that took first (3:28.71).
Jentrie Alderson, Southeast of Saline track and field
Alderson broke the Southeast record in the 1,600 with a time of 4:58.34 on her home track on Friday. She also won the 800 with a time of 2:25.31.
Chase Poague, Southeast of Saline track and field
Poague won three individual events and was a part of the 400-meter relay that took first at the Southeast Invitational on Friday. He won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 38.66, which became the new school record in the event. Poague broke Steve Fritz's record of 38.7 which was set in 1986.
Poague also won the 100-meter dash (11.19) and 110 hurdles (15.03).
Tate Nurnberg, Southeast of Saline track and field
Nurnberg won two events in the Southeast Invitational on Friday. He cleared 5-11 in the high jump and leaped 42-5 in the triple jump.
Gracy Dorzweiler, Sacred Heart track and field
Dorzweiler won the 400 at the Southeast Invitational on Friday. She finished the event in 1:00.96.
Lauryn Mikkelson, Sacred Heart track and field
Mikkelson won the 300 hurdles at Southeast on Friday with a time of 48.41.
Collin and Connor Phelps, Salina Central tennis
The Phelps twins finished second at regionals and will be making their third appearance at state this week.

Andrew Schrage and Issac Harper, Salina South tennis
Schrage and Harper were the No. 5-seed in their 5A regional at Central on Friday. The duo managed to finish fourth and qualify for their first state tournament.
Jace Douglas, Sacred Heart tennis
Douglas qualified for state with a third-place finish at the 3-2-1A regional in Lindsborg on Friday. He'll head to state with a 22-5 record.
Casey Perrin, Sacred heart tennis
Perrin qualified for state with a fifth-place finish at the 3-2-1A regional in Lindsborg on Friday. He'll head to state with a 23-11 record.
Sean Riordan and Ben Cheney, Sacred Heart tennis
Riordan and Cheney qualified for state with a fifth-place finish at the 3-2-1A regional in Lindsborg on Friday. They'll head to state with a 22-14 record.
Evan Nickelson, Southeast of Saline baseball
Nickelson went 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs in Southeast's 6-3 victory over Russell on Friday. He also pitched 4.2 innings and allowed one hit and struck out two.
Luke Gebhardt, Southeast of Saline baseball
Gebhardt went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in Southeast's 8-3 victory over Russell on Friday.
Bryna Baird, Southeast of Saline softball
Baird allowed just one hit and struck out nine in the circle in a 13-0 victory over Russell on Friday. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Chase Gilpin, Southeast of Saline softball
Gilpin went 5-for-7 at the plate against Russell on Friday. She had a home run, two doubles and four RBIs.
Carly Commerford, Southeast of Saline softball
Commerford went 6-for-9 at the plate against Russell on Friday. She had a triple, two doubles, and three RBIs. She allowed one hit and struck out eight in game two, which also was a 13-0 victory.
Araceli Rivas, Salina South softball
Rivas recorded 14 strikeouts in the circle for South as it was swept by Derby on Friday. On Tuesday against Andover Central and Hays, she had 23 strikeouts and four hits helping the Cougars to win the triangular.

Raleigh Kramer, Ell-Saline softball
Kramer pitched a perfect game in Ell-Saline's 15-0 victory over Little River in the first game of a doubleheader on Monday. At the plate, she went 4-for-6 with a double and three RBIs. On Tuesday against Bennington, she allowed one run on three hits and had nine strikeouts leading the Cardinals to an undefeated regular season.
Gabey Norris, Ell-Saline softball
Norris pitched a no-hitter and had six strikeouts in game two of Ell-Saline's doubleheader against Little River. The Cardinals won the game 15-0 in four innings. Norris was 1-for-1 at the plate in game one of the doubleheader with an RBI.
Lani Richards, Ell-Saline softball
Richards with 3-for-3 with two RBIs in game two of Ell-Saline's doubleheader against Little River.
Marcina McNabb, Ell-Saline softball
McNabb went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs in game two of Ell-Saline's doubleheader against Little River.
Valerie VanZant, Ell-Saline softball
VanZant had three hits and three RBIs in Ell-Saline's sweep over Little River. She went 2-for-2 in a 16-1 victory over Bennington.
Taelor Hardesty, Ell-Saline softball
Hardesty went 2-for-2 with two RBIs in game two RBIs in game two of Ell-Saline's doubleheader against Little River. She was 4-for-4 with four RBIs in Tuesday's doubleheader against Bennington.
Kelton Kern, Ell-Saline track and field
Kern won the 800 at the Thompson Relays on Friday. He finished with a time of 2:13.40.
Joe Hiechel, Ell-Saline track and field
Hiechel won the triple jump at the Thompson Relays on Friday. He finished with a mark of 18-5.75.
Raynee Hardesty, Ell-Saline softball
Hardesty went 3-for-5 with six RBIs in Ell-Saline's sweep over Bennington. One of her hits was a 3-run home run to help the Cardinals win game one.
Brin Hecker, Ell-Saline softball
Hecker went 4-for-4 with three RBIs in Ell-Saline's sweep over Bennington.
Baylee Brin, Salina South softball
Brin went 4-for-8 in Tuesday's triangular against Hays and Andover Central.
Lainey Howard, Salina South softball
Howard went 3-for-4 against Hays on Tuesday.
Luke Simpson, Salina South baseball
Simpson went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs against Andover Central. The Cougars won the second game of the doubleheader, 14-1.
Kaden Budke, Salina South baseball
Budke went 7-for-10 at the plate with two doubles and four RBIs in South's split with Andover Central.
Garrett Aills, Salina South baseball
Aills went 6-for-9 with three doubles and four RBIs in South's split with Andover Central. The Cougars fell 10-9 in the opener before winning the finale 14-1.
Gunnar Gross, Salina Central baseball
Gross went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in Central's 15-8 loss to Valley Center.
Anahyssa Nash, Salina South soccer
Nash contributed to both goals South scored on Tuesday night against Campus. She had an assist and scored one helping the Cougars to a 2-0 victory.
Michael Matteucci, Sacred Heart golf
Matteucci won the North Central Activities Association league championship with a 74 on Tuesday in Ellsworth.
Parker Benoit, Salina South baseball
Benoit went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs in South's 13-6 victory over Valley Center on Thursday.
Kyren Whitaker, Salina South baseball
Whitaker went 2-for-3 with four RBIs in South's 12-6 victory over Valley Center on Thursday.
