Top ice cream shops in York County, according to locals. Did your favorite make the list?

I will admit to something that many people find shocking: I don't really care for ice cream.

That is until I moved to Central Pennsylvania. I have to admit, though, that this region has some of the best ice cream I've ever tasted, so it got me thinking about who has the best of the best in York County. What better way to find out than to ask local people?

In a Facebook poll in Fixing York, people voted these six ice cream shops as the top in the county, all of them receiving more than 5% of the total votes by midnight, Sept. 18.

Perrydell Farm and Dairy

90 Indian Rock Dam Road, York

Perrydell Farm and Dairy was the top-voted ice cream shop in York County. Bought by Howard Perry in 1923, it is still family-owned today and known for its Holstein cattle. It offers the traditional ice cream flavors of strawberry, vanilla and chocolate, but it also has seasonal flavors, like sweet potato pie, almond joy and cookie dough.

Reviews say that their milk is top-notch, but a visit to Perrydell goes beyond the ice cream. You can find fresh baked goods and pet baby cows all in one stop.
