North Laurel High School basketball star Reed Sheppard was on Kentucky’s campus for an unofficial visit Friday, the latest step in the Wildcats’ pursuit of the in-state legacy recruit.

Sheppard — a 6-foot-3 guard — earned a UK scholarship offer in July, and Wildcats Coach John Calipari was in London last week to visit the rising junior at his high school. 247Sports analyst Travis Branham was first to report the campus visit Friday, and Sheppard’s father — former UK star Jeff Sheppardtold the Herald-Leader last week that the family was planning to visit Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State and Virginia in the near future.

Rivals.com ranked Sheppard at No. 21 in the 2023 class in a recent update to its list of the top juniors nationally.
