Basketball fans curious about the No. 1 recruit in the 2023 class and/or the son of NBA megastar LeBron James had a chance to watch both players face off on national television Saturday night.

Major Kentucky Wildcats target DJ Wagner Camden (N.J.) got the best of Bronny James and Sierra Canyon (Calif.) in a matchup featuring two top-15 national high school teams, with Wagner going for 21 points and leading Camden to a 66-62 victory. The game was televised on ESPNU.

Wagner is the No. 1 overall player in the 2023 class and a major UK target. He has extensive family ties to John Calipari, and the Wildcats are viewed as the heavy favorites in his recruitment, if the point guard opts for college over a jump straight to the pros.

James is the No. 34 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, though his circle has not released much information about the combo guard’s recruitment. Sierra Canyon’s roster also features 2022 McDonald’s All-Americans Amari Bailey (UCLA) and Kijani Wright (Southern Cal).
