Top notch: 3 liberal arts colleges near Galesburg ranked among best in the country

Three Galesburg area liberal arts colleges are among the top 150 liberal arts schools in the country, according to a new report.

The U.S. News & World Report recently released its top national universities, national liberal arts colleges, regional universities and regional colleges.

The report looks at a variety of factors, including graduation rates, retention rates, faculty, social mobility, borrower debt and much more.

Here's a look at how three liberal arts colleges fared in the Galesburg area.

Knox College

The highest rated liberal arts school in the Galesburg area was Knox College, which was ranked 75th nationally and fourth in the state. The school has an acceptance rate of 73% and has a four-year graduation rate of 66%, per the report.

Augustana College

Located in Rock Island, the next highest rated liberal arts school in the Galesburg area was Augustana College. The school, which has an acceptance rate of 61%, was tied for the 100th best liberal arts school in the country, according to the report. The school has a four-year graduation rate of 74%.

Monmouth College

Monmouth College is ranked as the third best liberal arts school Galesburg area and is tied for the 135th best liberal arts school in the country. The school has an acceptance rate of 66%. The four-year graduation rate data was not available, according to the report.

The highest rated liberal arts college in the state was Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. Wheaton College and Lake Forest College rounded out the top three in Illinois.
