Baseball

Rockwood 6 Berlin Brothersvalley 5 (8): Jonathan Felesky and Hunter Whipkey each tallied a hit and two RBIs to lift the Rockets over the Mountaineers.

Aaron Show pitched six innings of relief, allowing two runs and striking out seven for Rockwood.

Craig Jarvis, Pace Prosser and Parker Black each had two hits and an RBI for Berlin.

Conemaugh Township 12, Ferndale 0 (5): Tyler Weber had a hit and four RBIs to propel Conemaugh Township over Ferndale.

Weber allowed two hits and struck out four in three innings of work. Larry Weaver hit a home run and drove in two runs. Tanner Shirley delivered three RBIs while Colin Dinyar added two RBIs.

Windber 7, North Star 6: In Ferrellton, the Ramblers rallied for five runs in the final two innings to capture a victory over the Cougars.

Andrew Scalia doubled and drove in four runs for Windber. He also struck out six and allowed five runs in 5 2/3 innings of work. Lucas Rummel drove in two runs. Cole Mash scored three runs and Lucas Oleksa scored twice.

Braden Livingston had two RBIs for North Star. Glendon Griffith, Connor Yoder and Cayden Turner each had two hits.

Bishop Guilfoyle 3, Somerset 0: In Altoona, Brad Bruner had both of the Golden Eagles' hits in a loss to the Marauders.

Turkeyfoot 12, Paw Paw 7: Bryce Schmidt tallied two doubles and five RBIs to lead the Rams to a non-conference victory.

Schmidt allowed four runs on five hits and struck out seven to get the win. Zack Ryan struck out six in relief and provided two hits and two runs. Lucas Garcia had two RBIs.

Softball

Berlin Brothersvalley 12, Rockwood 2 (5): Shay Fochtman tallied two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored as the Mountaineers topped the Rockets.

Elsie Barna, Mckenzie Moore and Rori Allen each had two RBIs for Berlin. Sydney Walker added two hits and earned the victory in the circle, allowing two runs on four hits.

Elika Pletcher recorded two hits and Sydney Beals drove in a run for Rockwood.

Windber 13, North Star 0 (5): In Ferrellton, the Ramblers pounded out 20 hits to clobber the Cougars.

Skylee Miller went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Nici Costlow went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Kaylie Gaye and Lindsey Custer each had three hits and drove in a run.

Shade 15, Turkeyfoot 0 (3): In Cairnbrook, Kendahl Stutzman went 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, and also tossed a no-hitter as the Panthers pummeled the Rams.

Jenna Muha went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs.

Windber 2, Richland 1: In Richland, Braydon Wojcik picked up a singles victory, while Cayden Thompson and Aiden Constantino won in doubles to lift the Ramblers over the Rams.

Somerset 5, Richland 0: In Richland Township, Liam Egal, Giuseppe Castonova and Grayson Yutzy earned singles victories as the Golden Eagles blanked the Rams.

Ben Witt and Tanner Wassilchalk along with the team of Mason Chabol and Isaac St. Clair captured doubles victories.

Track and field

Conemaugh Township opens season with wins: The Conemaugh Township girls took down Chestnut Ridge 78-70 while the Windber girls fell to the Lions 82.5-65.5

Conemaugh Township's Izzy Slezak broke the school record in both the 100- and 200-meter dash. She was also a member of the winning 400 and 1600 relay teams.

Windber's Riley Brubaker won the high, long and triple jump.

The Conemaugh Township boys bested Chestnut Ridge 78-71. The Lions downed the Ramblers 77-68.

Conemaugh Township's Ethan Black won the 100- and 200-meter dash. He was also a member of the winning 400 relay. Jackson Sotosky earned wins in the high jump and triple jump.

Windber's Blake Klosky picked up victories in the shot put and discus.

Somerset 18, Richland 3 (4): In Somerset, Callen Miller tallied four hits, including a grand slam and six RBIs as the Golden Eagles dumped the Rams.

Owen Miller recorded two hits and three RBIs for Somerset. Brad Bruner, Nolan Riggs and Zane Hagans each had two hits and two RBIs. Aiden VanLenten and Eric Harris allowed just one hit while combining for four strikeouts.

Windber 10, Rockwood 4: In Windber, Joe Reynolds hit a 3-run home run to lead the Ramblers past the Rockets.

Lucas Oleksa recorded two hits and scored three runs while Andrew Scalia added a pair of hits and an RBI for Windber. Lucas Rummel struck out seven over 4 1/3 innings of relief to pick up the win.

Aaron Show had two hits and two RBIs for Rockwood.

Calvary Christian 9, Turkeyfoot 2: Bryce Nicholson recorded two hits in a non-conference setback.

Nicholson struck out 10 over six innings.

Softball

Conemaugh Township 3, Blacklick Valley 2: In Davidsville, Alayliah Reynolds hit a 3-run triple as Conemaugh Township edged Blacklick Valley.

Olivia Mauzy tallied three hits for Conemaugh Township. Sierra LaPorta struck out 13 in five innings of relief.

Richland 13, Somerset 3 (5): In Richland Township, the Golden Eagles fell to the Rams to open their season.

Portage 12, Windber 3: In Windber, Summer Campbell went 3-for-3 with a double for the Ramblers in a setback to the Mustangs.

Shade 3, Blacklick Valley 0: In Cairnbrook, Tara Corradini struck out 15 while allowing one hit and walking one in a complete game shutout over the Vikings.

Corradini had a double and two RBIs, while Jaedyn Krupper produced two hits for the Panthers.
