Episcopal Retirement Services, founded in 1951, values collaboration and diversity of thought, according to its leaders. In describing its culture, the nonprofit notes:

"We are so proud to offer a workplace that truly celebrates the talents of our employees while honoring them as individuals. It’s really about whether employees feel inspired and are given room to do great things. As a result, Episcopal Retirement Services offers some of the lowest staff turnover ratios and highest resident satisfaction scores in the industry."

Total Quality Logistics

The Union Township-based privately-owned transport and shipping company was founded in 1997 with two employees in a small office. Now TQL is the second largest freight brokerage firm in North America with about 2,700 employees in its four Cincinnati area locations.

The company negotiates business-to-business shipments for companies with freight to move, matching them with carriers that have the capacity to move them.

It describes itself as thriving "in an industry where things almost never go according to plan." TQL officials say the company attracts "employees who thrive on challenge and love to win. Woven into this winner mentality is a strong thread of teamwork – we work together to ensure goods in our care get delivered on time."

But that's not all. TQL also values charitable giving. In 2022, the company donated more than $4 million to more than 3,600 charities nationwide, its profile states. In the Cincinnati region, TQL teams across the city regularly support Big Brothers Big Sisters, Matthew 25 Ministries, Boys & Girls Club, the Ronald McDonald House of Greater Cincinnati, as well as several causes benefitting veterans, the disabled and animal welfare.

One employee says: "As a corporation, TQL has a unique culture that makes everyone feel at home and welcome. I have great rapport with my broker and my teammates and I feel of value when I work hard and do a good job."
