Topeka-area schools will be well represented at State Track and Field. Here's who's going

Track regionals took place on Thursday and Friday with many Topeka-area athletes punching their ticket to state Friday and Saturday at Wichita State University.

With the top four finishers in each event qualifying for regionals, here's how the Topeka-area track teams did at regionals including their seed and seed time based on all regional finishes.

3A

Rossville and Silver Lake competed at Royal Valley in a 3A Regional on Friday.

Silver Lake 

The Silver Lake girls placed fourth (46) behind Nemaha Central (108.5), West Franklin (76) and Marysville (65), and the boys took second (91), behind just Marysville (100.5).

Brogan Renfro won individual regional titles in the 100 (11.16), the 200 (22.9) and the triple jump (41-11.5) and senior Carson Johnson won the 300 hurdles (41.17).

Renfro will be the No. 4 seed in the 100 prelims, No. 5 in the 200 prelims and No. 7 in the triple jump,  and Johnson will be the No. 3 seed in the 300 hurdle prelims,

Also winning regional titles were the 4x100 relay team of Johnson, Troy Heiman, Connor Adams and Kale Frehe (44.86), who will be the No. 10 seed at state, and 4x400 relay team of Frehe, Johnson, Renfro and Kamryn Kaniper (3:30.99) that will be the No. 7 seed for the 4x400 relay prelims.

Other boys qualifiers:

  • 4x800 relay team of Cameron TenEyck, Eli Ferguson, Mason Brokaw and Koltyn Kaniper (3rd, 8:30.89). The 4x800 relay team earned the No. 5 seed.

  • Heiman in the 200 (3rd, 23.87). Heiman is the No. 15 seed in the 200 prelims.

  • Johnson in the 110 hurdles (3rd, 16.42). Johnson is the No. 12 seed in the 110 prelims.

  • Adams in the long jump (4th, 20-04). Adams is the No. 13 seed.

  • Channer Feuerbacher in the javelin throw (4th, 155-00). Feuerbacher will be the No. 11 seed.

Girls qualifiers:

  • Tessa Gerber in the 1600 (2nd, 5:37.3) and the 3200 (2nd, 12:30.14). Gerber is the No. 10 seed in the 1600 and the No. 11 seed in the 3200.

  • 4x800 relay team of Gerber, Ella Bolan, Ellen Doty and Mariah Farmer (4th, 10:39.51). The 4x800 relay team is the No. 13 seed.

  • Doty in the pole vault (3rd, 8-06.00). Doty is the No. 16 seed.

  • Kaibryn Kruger in the triple jump (3rd, 34-06.50). Kruger is the No. 9 seed.

  • Ava Rottinghaus in the javelin throw (4th, 104-9). Rottinhaus is the No. 15 seed.

Rossville

The Rossville girls placed fifth (45) behind Nemaha Central (108.5), West Franklin (76), Marysville (65) and Silver Lake (46), and the boys placed 13th (14).

Briar Gillum won individual regional titles in the shot put (41-07.75) and the discus (131-09) for the girls. Gillum is the second seed in the shot put and the top seed in the discus throw.

Other girls qualifiers:

  • Amelia Foster in the 400 (2nd, 1:01.03) and 800 (2nd, 2:31.98). Foster is the No. 9 seed for 400 prelims and the No. 12 seed for the 800.

  • Kendra Hurla in the long jump (4th, 4-10.00). Hurla is the No. 14 seed.

Boys qualifiers:

  • Pedro Arantes in the 100 (2nd, 111.33). Arantes is the No. 9 seed in the 100 prelims.

  • 4x100 relay team of Arantes, Hunter Webb, Hunter Broce and Braiden Hensley (4th, 45.54)

4A

Hayden competed at Eudora in a 4A Regional.

Hayden

The boys (131) would win a regional title beating out Louisburg (128), Eudora (114), Bishop Miege (90) and Tonganoxie (53), to round out the top five.

On the boys side, winning individual regional titles were Tanner Newkirk in the 800 (1:59.04), 1600 (4:27.52) and 3200 (9:39.51), Jake Muller in the 300 hurdles (39.39), the 4x400 relay team of Muller, Jensen Schrickel, Ethan Florence, and Ryan Rochford (3:28.58) and Schrickel in the long jump (21-7.50).

Newkirk is the No. 3 seed in the 800, No. 2 in the 1600 and No. 1 in the 3200, Muller is the top seed in the 300 hurdle prelims, Schrickel is the No. 3 seed in the long jump and the 4x400 relay team will be the top seed in the prelims.

Other boys qualifiers:

  • Joe Otting in the discus throw (2nd, 136-2) and shot put (4th, 46-9.5). Otting is the No. 11 seed in the discus throw and the No. 10 seed in the shot put.

  • Sean McConnell discus throw (3rd, 134-3) and shot put (2nd, 50-6). McConnell is the No. 13 seed in the discus throw and the No. 7 seed in shot put.

  • JC Cummings in the javelin throw (4th, 162-1). Cummings is the No. 8 seed.

  • Daniel Funk in the triple jump (2nd 39-3.75). Funk is the No. 13 seed.

  • Muller took in the 110 hurdles (3rd, 15.43). Muller will be the No. 9 seed in the 110 hurdle prelims.

  • The 4x800 relay team of Rochford, Newkirk, Nick Lloyd and Nick Padilla (2nd 8:30.74). The 4x800 relay team enters Friday as the No. 4 seed.

  • 4x100 relay team of Muller, Schrickel, Funk and Florence (3rd, 44.55). The 4x100 relay team will is the No. 9 seed in the 4x100 prelims.

  • Schrickel in the 400 (3rd, 52.19). Schrickel is be the No. 8 seed for the prelims.

The girls team (37) tied for sixth with Ottawa behind Eudora (156), Louisburg (99), Baldwin (76), Holton (70) and Bishop Miege (50).

Girls qualifiers:

  • Liz Moore in the triple jump (3rd, 31-7.25). Moore is the No. 15 seed.

  • 4x100 team of Miranda, Natalie Hillebert, Reagan Huscher and Sarah Schmidt (4th, 52.00). The 4x100 team is the No. 12 seed in prelims.

  • Hillebert in the 400 (3rd, 1:03.12). Hillebert is the No. 10 seed.

  • 4x400 relay team of Hillebert, Megan Carr and Riley Schmidtlein  (4th, 4:23.00). The 4x400 relay team is seeded No. 15 for prelims.

  • Jadyn Paige Falley in the shot put (3rd, 36-2). Paige Falle is the No. 9 seed.

5A

Seaman and Topeka West competed at Emporia State in a 5A regional, while Shawnee Heights and Highland Park competed at a 5A regional in De Soto.

Seaman 

The Seaman girls took fourth (58) behind Great Bend (151.5), Salina Central (86) and Hays (60.5)

Bethany Druse won an individual regional title in the 800 (2:22.39), earning the No. 7 seed for state, and the 4x800 relay team of Druse, Anna Becker, Savannah Sampson and Taylie Heston took first (10:15.25) and will be the No. 5 seed.

Other girls qualifiers:

  • Heston in the 400 (4th, 1:05.15).

  • Taylin Stallbaumer in the 100 hurdles (2nd, 15.74). Stallbaumer is the No. 6 seed in 100 prelims.

  • 4x100 relay team of Carmen Leon Monzon, Ally Steiner, Jaida Stallbaumer and Jaycee Schumann (4th, 51.38). The 4x100 relay team is the No. 15 seed for prelims.

  • 4x400 relay team of Druse, Becker, Jaida Stallbaumer and Taylin Stallbaumer (4th, 4:13.22). The 4x400 relay team is the No. 12 seed for prelims.

  • Anna Domann in the shot put (3rd, 34-01.5). Domann is the No. 12 seed.

  • Ally Trier in the javelin throw (2nd, 119-0). Trier is the No. 9 seed.

The boys finished eighth (46) behind Hays (109), Great Bend (71), Valley CEnter (69), Newton (68), Topeka West (666), Emporia (54) and Salina Central (54)

Boys qualifiers:

  • Branen Moore in the 800 (2nd, 2:04.31). Moore is the No. 14 seed.

  • Jace Moore in the 1600 (4th, 4:32.3) and 3200 (2nd, 10:08.58). Moore is the No. 12 seed in the 1600 and the No. 14 seed in the 3200.

  • 4x100 relay team of Aaron Merritt, Jacob Anderson, Jaxson Thomas and Adonis Vanleeuwen (2nd, 43.9). The 4x100 relay team will be the No. 12 seed at prelims.

  • 4x800 meter relay team of Branen Moore, Zach Jowers, Landon Stuke and Jace Moore (8:29.21). The 4x800 relay team enters Friday as the No. 13 seed.

  • Sean Miller in the shot put (4th, 46-02.0). Miller is the No. 14 seed.

Shawnee Heights

The Shawnee Heights boys finished fourth (63) behind Mill Valley (130), De Soto (83) and Piper (79)

Jackson Esquibel won individual regional titles in the 1600 (4:27.7) and the 3200 (9:37.31) and Jordan Garvin won the 300 hurdles (40.1).

Esquibel is the top seed in the 1600 and No. 2 seed in the 3200 and Garvin is the No. 3 seed in the 300 hurdle prelims.

Other boys qualifiers

  • JaLaveyn January in the 200 (2nd, 22.26). January is the No. 5 seed in the 200 prelims.

  • Maddox Moten in the shot put (3rd, 47-3.5) and discus (2nd, 141-3). Moten is the No. 7 seed in the discus throw and the No. 10 seed in shot put.

  • David Skinner in the javelin throw (4th, 145-10). Skinner is the No. 16 seed.

The girls (35) took sixth behind Mill Valley (173), De Soto (98), Piper (73), Lansing (48) and Basehor Linwood (43).

The girls 4x100 relay team of Hailey Anderson, Ta-Mijha Nichols, Haley Haltom and Taylor Rottinghaus won the regional title with a time of 50.49 and is the No. 4 seed for prelims.

Other girls qualifiers:

  • Nichols in the 100 (2nd, 12.59). Nichols is the No. 4 seed for prelims.

  • Rottinghaus in the 200 (4th, 26.48) and 400 (2nd, 59.10). Rottinghaus is the No. 12 seed for the 200 prelims and

  • 4x400 relay team of Anderson, Haltom, Rottinghaus and Imani Akins (4th, 4:17.75). The 4x400 relay team is seeded No. 15 for prelims.

Topeka West 

The Topeka West girls finished sixth (52.5) behind Great Bend (151.5), Salina Central (86), Hays (60.5), Seaman (58) and Salina South (57)

Ala'Jah Brooks won an individual regional title in the 100 (12.64) and 200 (26.29). Brooks is the No. 10 seed in the 100 prelims and the No. 8 seed for 200 prelims.

Other girls qualifiers:

  • Anna Phelps in the 1600 (3rd, 5:32.6) and 3200 (3rd, 11:52.95). Phelps is the No. 12 seed in the 1600 and the No. 8 seed in the 3200.

  • Makinsey Jones in the triple jump (2nd, 34-06.5). Jones is the No. 5 seed.

  • Shontal Phillips in the triple jump (3rd, 34-05). Phillips is the No. 7 seed.

The boys took fifth (66) behind Hays (109), Great Bend (71), Valley Center (69) and Newton (68).

Lenny Njoroge won an individual regional title in the 3200 (9:50.5), earning the No. 8 seed at state, and Zsamar Sipple won the long jump (22-09.25) and triple jump (45-01). Sipple will be the No. 3 seed in the long jump and No. 3 in the triple jump.

Other boys qualifiers:

  • Louis Wilson in the 800 (3rd, 2:04.72). Wilson is the No. 15 seed.

  • Njoroge in the 1600 (2nd, 4:29.69). Njoroge is the No. 6 seeed

  • Alesecio Batson in the 300 hurdles (4th, 42.66) and triple jump (2nd, 43-05.5). Batson is the No. 13 seed in the 300 hurdle prelims and No. 3 in the triple jump.

  • 4x800 relay team of Wilson, Njoroge, Elijah Phelps and Mark Wilkie (3rd, 8:31.34). The 4x800 relay team earned the No. 15 seed.

  • Caleb Noonoo in the high jump (4th, 5-10). Noonoo is the No. 15 seed.

Highland Park

The Highland Park boys finished tied for sixth (47) with Basehor Linwood behind Mill Valley (130), De Soto (83), Piper (79), Shawnee Heights (63) and Leavenworth (55).

Tre Richardson claimed individual regional titles in the 200 (21.77), long jump (23-9), triple jump (46-3). Richardson is the No. 2 seed in the 200 prelims, the top seed in the long jump and the top seed in the triple jump.

Other boys qualifiers:

  • Tyrell Reed in the 100 (2nd, 10.98). Reed is seeded No. 9 in the prelims.

  • Keijuan Johnson in the 300 hurdles (2nd, 40.48). Johnson will be the No. 4 seed in the 300 hurdle prelims.

The girls placed ninth (21) behind Mill Valley (173), De Soto (98), Piper (73), Lansing (48) Basehor Linwood (43), Shawnee Heights (35), Leavenworth (34) and Bonner Springs (33).

Victoria Reed won an individual regional title in the 400 (58.22). Reed is the top seed for 400 prelims.

Other girls qualifiers:

  • Reed in the 200 (2nd, 26.22)

6A

Topeka High

The Topeka High boys team (19) finished in eighth behind Manhattan (110), Washburn Rural (76), Junction City (72), (Derby (67), Free State (63), Wichita Heights (57) and Wichita Southeast (39)

Boys qualifiers:

  • V'Ante Peoples in the 200 (3rd, 23.16). Peoples is the No. 12 seed in the 200 prelims.

  • Dylan Blankenship in the 400 (3rd, 51.84). Blankenship is the No. 11 seed in the prelims.

  • 4x100 relay team of V'Ante Peoples, Jaziah Mack, Logan Murray and DyKestair Matlock (3rd, 43.59). The 4x100 relay team is the No. 10 seed for prelims.

Washburn Rural

The Washburn Rural boys would finish second (76) behind Manhattan (110) as a team.

Zach Sulzen-Watson won individual regional titles for the boys in the shot put (52-02.25) and discus (159-07). Sulzen-Watson is the No. 13 seed in discus throw and the No. 6 seed in the shot put.

Other boys qualifiers:

  • Spencer Haddock in the 3200 (4th, 10:11.96). Haddock is the No. 14 seed.

  • Cody Ingerthron in the 110 hurdles (4th, 15.66) and 300 hurdles (3rd, 42.01). Ingerthron is the No. 13 seed in the 110 hurdles and the No. 13 seed in the 300 hurdle prelims.

  • 4x800 relay team of Easton Dial, Spencer Haddock, Hayden Keller and Ben Buessing (4th, 8:43.95). The 4x800 relay team earned the No. 14 seed.

  • Joshua Sulzen-Watson in the discus throw (3rd, 131-02) and javelin throw (3rd, 161-08). Sulzen-Watson is the No. 13 seed in the discus throw and the No, 7 seed in the javelin throw.

  • Walker Thompson in the javelin throw (3rd, 151-11). Thompson is the No. 10 seed.

  • Reece Godby in the javelin throw (4th, 150-08). Godby is the No. 12 seed.

The girls took second as a team (76.5) behind Manhattan (166.5)

Payton Fink won an individual regional title for the girls in the 1600 (5:35.01) and 3200 (11:45.98) and sophomore Raegen Peterson win an individual regional title in the discus throw (120-09). Fink is the No. 10 seed in the 1600 and the No. 9 seed in the 3200 and Peterson is the No. 3 seed in discus.

Other girls qualifiers:

  • Khloi Bird in the 800 (4th, 2:31.3). Bird is the No. 13 seed.

  • Rylee Ismert in the 1600 (2nd, 5:35.02). Ismert is the No. 11 seed.

  • Madeline Carter in the 3200 (2nd, 11:45.98). Carter is the No. 10 seed.

  • The 4x800 relay team of Maria Christensen, Brooklyn Nolte, Bird and Ismert (2nd, 10:01.22). The 4x800 relay etam is the No. 9 seed.

  • Ashleigh Fitzhugh in the javelin throw (3rd, 102-10). Fitzhugh is the No. 13 seed.

  • Raegen Peterson in the javelin throw (4th, 101-06). Peterson is the No. 14 seed in the javelin throw.
