Topeka Tropics put out ‘heartfelt call’ for investors after owner backs out

TOPEKA (KSNT) – A local sports team issued a message on social media on Thursday asking for help from the community.

The Topeka Tropics’ message begins by stating that the future owner of the indoor football team decided to step away from the role. This news comes a week after the National Arena League revoked the team’s league membership for failure to pay league dues along with other issues.

“This is our last plea, a heartfelt call to those among us who have dreamed of making a tangible impact, who see the potential for what the Tropics can become – a symbol of our city’s unity, strength, and pride. We are searching for local business leaders, investors, and anyone with a passion for sports and community development to step forward. This is your opportunity to play a crucial role in shaping the future of the tropics and, by extension, the future our community. Owning the Tropics is not just an investment in a sports team; it’s an investment in Topeka. It’s a chance to foster local talent, to be at the heart of community events, and to inspire the next generation.”

The message continues by asking anyone who is interested in investing in the team to reach out. In the final lines, it reads, “We believe in the Tropics. We believe in Topeka. We believe in this community.”

The Topeka Tropics were previously scheduled to play against the Sioux City Bandits on March 30 at the Stormont Vail Events Center. As of the time of this report, this game is still scheduled at the events center.
