Topgolf's opening in Louisville is coming soon, and the company is now hiring

The fairway is looking clear at a new entertainment complex opening in eastern Louisville – and the company behind the project is ready to hire some help.

It's no secret that Topgolf is building a new location in Derby City, where golfers can hit the links and enjoy snacks and drinks with friends. The project at the Oxmoor Center has been in the works for years, with a lawsuit filed in 2018 by Hurstbourne neighbors against the development finally dropped in early 2021.

Now, Topgolf is preparing for its Louisville opening by hiring hundreds of people from the area, the company told The Courier Journal in a release.

"Development of the venue is progressing well and is nearing completion," Spencer Stewart, a company spokesperson, said in an email. "We are excited to welcome the Louisville community to Topgolf later this year."

Stewart would not confirm a specific opening date, other than to note the company hopes to begin serving customers before the new year begins. But local news outlet WLKY reported a Topgolf representative said the company plans to open the new location before Thanksgiving, toward the end of November.

The new location is being built in the space that used to house a Sears department store in the Oxmoor Center, a more than 900,000-square-foot shopping mall in Louisville at 7900 Shelbyville Road.

It'll be the first Topgolf in Louisville, but there are other nearby locations for those that don't mind a drive – a Topgolf is located in Nashville, and there are additional complexes in Fishers, Indiana, by Indianapolis, and in West Chester Township, Ohio, which is just north of Cincinnati.

The Louisville location will be built in a 65,000-square-foot space and will include an outdoor driving range and a three-story building with hitting bays and a bar, according to plans filed with the city.

Those interested in applying for a position at the Louisville Topgolf can do so on the company's website. The company is looking to fill 500 positions, Stewart said.
