Torchy's Tacos is set to open at 1478 Gemini Place in the Polaris area next week, the first of at least three Columbus-area restaurants planned by the Texas chain.

The chain, which briefly opened a ghost kitchen in Columbus last year, will open the brick-and-mortar restaurant on June 29. The new restaurant will offerdine-in and pick-up, featuring an outdoor patio and pick-up window.

"We are proud and eager to announce the opening of our Columbus location as the newest home for Torchy's Tacos," said Mike Rypka, founder and CEO of Torchy's Tacos, in a press release.

"Torchy's Ghost Kitchen was a great introduction to the local market that allowed us to connect with fans in the area, and we can't wait to welcome everyone back in person."

On the menu are a variety of hand-crafted and made-to-order tacos, including fried chicken, pork carnitas and plant-based and breakfast tacos, a taco of the month, chips and queso, refried beans, street corn, guacamole, salsa, margaritas, cocktails and beer.

The first 100 customers on opening day will receive a limited-edition Torchy’s Tacos T-shirt commemorating the opening, which will grant customers a year of free chile queso and chips each time they wear it at the Polaris location, with a limit of once per day.

The restaurant chain, founded in 2006, has over 100 locations across Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Kansas, Indiana, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

The Polaris location is currently the only one in Ohio, but two additional Greater Columbus restaurants are planned for early next year. The chain has started work on a restaurant at the former site of Ruby Tuesday at 3739 W. Dublin Granville Road, and plans a third location in New Albany.

Torchy's Tacos hours will be Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
