The black boxes recovered from the Jan. 15 plane crash in Nepal are being sent to Singapore for analysis to identify the cause of the crash that killed all 72 people on board, officials said Thursday. Both the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder would be examined by experts at Singapore's Transportation Safety Investigation Bureau. “The Nepal investigating team is leaving on Friday with the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder where the data will be downloaded and analyzed,” said Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson Rajendra Kumar K.C.

A powerful storm system that hit the Texas Gulf Coast on Tuesday spawned a tornado that caused severe damage in Deer Park and other communities outside of Houston.

Severe weather caused significant damage across southeast Texas on Tuesday amid a tornado outbreak in the Gulf Coast region. A "large and destructive" tornado was confirmed moving over Deer Park, in the Houston metro region, around 2:30 p.m. local time, the National Weather Service said. Several communities in the Houston region were conducting rescues and surveying damage as the storm moved through the area.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials believe it was accidental.
