Tory leadership news LIVE: Five candidates take part in Channel 4 televised debate

Five of the six Tory leadership candidates have gone head-to-head in a televised debate on Channel 4.

Michael Gove, Jeremy Hunt, Rory Stewart, Sajid Javid and Dominic Raab put forward why they should become the next Prime Minister, under questioning from debate host Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

The opening exchanges were all about Brexit before questions moved on to other issues facing the country.

Leadership favourite Boris Johnson opted out and is not appearing.

Further ballots of MPs are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday before the final pair are put to the party's membership for a decision from June 22.
