Total Spy review

Total Spy lets you keep an eye on what other users are doing on your computer when you're not there, with reports and screenshots to help you stay on top of everything. No matter who you're interested in keeping track of or why, this program has the tools you need to get the job done.

Pros

Monitoring tools: There are several different tools you can use to track various types of activity through this program. Options include a Keystroke Logger, Clipboard Scan, Web Navigation Monitoring, Applications Recording, IM Chat Monitoring, and more.

Capture options: You can use this program to take screenshots of social network activity or at preset intervals. You can decide how often you'd like screenshots taken in minutes, and you can also adjust their quality and set limits for how many are taken in a day so as not to use up too much space on your computer.

Cons

Program conflicts: This app warns you on installation that you need to remove all other key logging or monitoring software in order to ensure proper installation and functioning. It is also incompatible with some antivirus software, so you may have to uninstall other programs you've been using if you want to try this one.

Bottom Line

Total Spy offers a nice set of monitoring features to let you get an accurate picture of how your computer is being used when you're not around. Its compatibility issues may make it the wrong choice for some, but it otherwise works well. You can try it for free with a limit of 12 monitoring sessions, and it costs $29.95 to buy.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Total Spy 3.6.
