SINGAPORE — Tottenham Hotspur could have a reunion with their former manager Jose Mourinho - in Singapore.

The English Premier League club will be playing a friendly match with Mourinho's AS Roma on 26 July at the National Stadium, as part of their pre-season Asia Pacific tour.

Tottenham Hotspur last visited Singapore in 2019 where Harry Kane’s spectacular stoppage-time goal from the centre line gave them a 3-2 win over Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus.

The north London club - currently sixth in the EPL table - said in a media release on Wednesday (3 May) that the tour will kick off in Perth, where they will face fellow EPL side West Ham United on 18 July, before flying over to Singapore.

Spurs will also be opening up their pre-match training session to fans on 25 July at the National Stadium. Fans can also expect the players and staff to take part in engagement events, as the team will be spending a good part of their pre-season preparations in Asia Pacific.

Donna-Maria Cullen, Executive Director, Tottenham Hotspur, said: “We have fond memories of our most recent visit in 2019 and have an extremely passionate fanbase in Singapore, including an official supporters’ club that has been established for more than 20 years," said Donna-Maria Cullen, Tottenham's executive director.

"AS Roma will provide a great test at an important time for us as we prepare for the 2023/24 season. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to connect with the Spurs family."

Roma thriving under Mourinho

Roma meanwhile, will begin their Asian tour in Singapore before moving on to South Korea.

Under Mourinho - who managed Tottenham from 2019 to 2021 - the Italian Serie A club won the European Conference League title last season - their first trophy in 11 years. Fans will be hoping to welcome top Roma players such as Nicola Zalewski, Chris Smalling and Paulo Dybala.

Both the friendly match and Spurs' open training session will be ticketed. Tickets will go on sale via Ticketek Singapore from 10am on 8 May.
