Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Richarlison from Everton in a deal understood to be worth up to £60 million.

The Brazilian has agreed a five-year contract in north London, where he will compete with the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski for a place in the Spurs attack.

Antonio Conte has been keen for Spurs to build a squad capable of competing in both the Premier League and Champions League, and Richarlison is their fourth arrival of a busy summer so far.

Richarlison played a crucial role in Everton’s battle to avoid relegation last season, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists in 30 Premier League appearances.

The 25-year-old is capable of playing as a central striker or as a winger on either flank, and is a regular for the Brazil national team.

Richarlison joined Everton from Watford in the summer of 2018, with the Merseyside club paying an initial £35m for the forward. Watford had signed him a year earlier, from Fluminense, for around £11m.

As reported by Telegraph Sport earlier this week, Chelsea showed late interest in signing Richarlison but decided against matching the deal offered by Spurs.

An agreement between Spurs and Everton was reached after Daniel Levy, the Spurs chairman, attempted to include other players — including Harry Winks and Steven Bergwijn — as part of the deal.

Richarlison joins Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic as the new arrivals in the Spurs squad and the club’s business is not expected to stop there.

Conte remains keen on signing another left-sided centre-back and there have been talks over a move for Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet. The 27-year-old, who has made 15 appearances for France, is capable of operating on the left of Conte’s usual back three, or as the central defender in the backline.
