TOUGH WEDNESDAY: KWU ladies scrape past Lady Eagles

A low voltage offensive attack has been felt in the bottom line for the Oklahoma Wesleyan University women's basketball team.

During their recent four-game winning streak, the Lady Eagles averaged 67 points; they are 1-3 since while averaging 58.3 points.

On Wednesday, they came up short in a home showdown against Kansas Wesleyan University, 64-52.

Kansas Wesleyan (16-8, 14-4) stormed to a 23-8 lead in the first quarter. OKWU (8-16, 7-11) outscored their opponent the final three quarters, 44-41.

River Jeffries and Mahaley Farmer rang up 19 and 16 points, respectively, to pace the Lady Eagles. Farmer also pulled down 14 rebounds.

Sydnee Schovanec made a solid contribution - eight points, six boards, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.

Ty'Najah Mitchell dealt two assists and made four steals.

Former Bartlesville High stalwart Mary Cone played 14 minutes off the bench and contributed two boards.

Kansas Wesleyan gathered most its points from the bench, led by Jill Stephens and Tylleea Wallace with 13 points each.
