Tourist placed $5 slot bet in Las Vegas — and walked away with ‘life-changing’ win

A tourist from California is going home with millions after playing slots at a Las Vegas casino, officials said.

The lucky jackpot winner placed a $5 bet at Aria Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip and ended up winning nearly $10.2 million on the Megabucks Gold Forge Slots, according to an Aug. 10 post by IGT Jackpots.

The player’s “life-changing win” marks another “huge megabucks jackpot,” the post said.

It’s not the first big Las Vegas win this summer. A traveler at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas went home with an extra $1.3 million after hitting a slot machine jackpot in a terminal, McClatchy News reported.

“That’s one way to end a vacation — as a MILLIONAIRE,” airport officials wrote on Twitter on June 28.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
