Tournament draws: Area teams earn top seeds in volleyball, soccer

Area teams learned their fates, as the Central, East and Southeast Districts held their volleyball and soccer tournament draws on Sunday.

In the Southeast, Sheridan earned the third seed and New Lexington the fifth seed in Division II. The Generals host the winner of 14th seed Vinton County and 19th seed Wellston at 6 p.m. Oct. 19, while the Panthers welcome 12th seed Logan Elm at 6 p.m. Oct. 19.

The district semifinals are Oct. 24, and the district finals on Oct. 29.

Crooksville was the 29th seed in Division III and heads to 20th seed Piketon at 6 p.m. Oct. 18 with the winner heading to Zane Trace at 6 p.m. Oct. 20.

In the East District, Coshocton drew the fourth seed and River View the fifth in Division II, while John Glenn was ninth, Morgan 13th, Philo 16th, Maysville 19th and Zanesville 21st.

In the top bracket, the Electrics will host the Panthers and the Raiders host 17th seed West Holmes at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17.

The Philo-Maysville winner heads to second seed East Liverpool, John Glenn travels to seventh seed Carrollton, Morgan-West Holmes winner visits third seed New Philadelphia and Coshocton hosts the winner of 15th seed Minerva and 17th seed Steubenville, as all those games will be on Oct. 19.

In the lower bracket, Zanesville travels to top seed Union Local and River View welcomes 20th seed Harrison Central on Oct. 19.

The district semifinals will be Oct. 25 and district finals on Oct. 29.

In Division III, top seed Meadowbrook will host the winner of ninth seed Bellaire and 11th seed Buckeye Local on Oct. 20, while 13th seed West Muskingum heads to second seed Sandy Valley at 6 p.m. Oct. 18.

Rosecrans, 15th seed in Division IV, hosts 17th seed Hannibal River at 6 p.m. Oct. 18, with the winner playing at second seed Berlin Hiland on Oct. 20.

In the Central District, Tri-Valley drew the 25th seed in Division I and plays at 12th seed Newark at 6 p.m. Oct. 18, and the winner faces 11th seed Watkins Memorial at 6 p.m. Oct. 20.

Boys Soccer

John Glenn earned the top seed in Division II in the East District, while Maysville was third, River View fourth, Morgan 10th, Tri-Valley 11th, Philo 15th and Zanesville 16th.

In East 1, Tri-Valley welcomes Philo at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, and the winner plays at John Glenn, while Zanesville heads to fifth seed New Philadelphia, as those games will be on Oct. 18.

In East 2, Maysville welcomes 13th seed Cambridge, River View hosts ninth seed Beaver Local and Morgan heads to seventh seed Minerva on Oct. 18.

The district semifinals are Oct. 25 and district finals on Oct. 29.

The area's Division III teams headed to the Central District where Rosecrans earned the eighth seed, West Muskingum 17th and Coshocton 19th.

Coshocton travels to 13th seed Columbus North International and Rosecrans welcomes Patriot Prep at 7 p.m. Oct. 19.

A Coshocton win sends them to top seed Worthington Christian, a Rosecrans win lets them host Marion Pleasant and West Muskingum heads to the winner of 11th seed Fisher Catholic or 15th seed Cristo Rey, as all three games will be played at 7 p.m. Oct. 24.

In the Southeast District, New Lexington was given the 15th seed in Division II and travels to second seed Gallia Academy at 5 p.m. Oct. 17.

Sheridan was the 16th seed and welcomes 17th seed Circleville at 5 p.m. Oct. 15, with the winner playing at top seed Athens at 5 p.m. Oct. 17.

Girls Soccer

John Glenn earned the fourth seed in Division II behind top seed New Philadelphia, second seed West Holmes and third seed Dover. River View was ninth, Zanesville 11th, Maysville 13th, Coshocton 15th, Philo 17th and Morgan 19th.

Maysville hosts 14th seed Indian Creek and Zanesville welcomes Coshocton, as both games will be played at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17 in the East District 1 bracket. The Maysville-Indian Creek winner heads to West Holmes, River View heads to eighth seed St. Clairsville, and the Zanesville-Coshocton winner goes to Dover on Oct. 19.

Cambridge hosts Philo on Oct. 17, and the winner heads to New Philadelphia, while the Muskies host the Raiders on Oct. 19, as both matches will be at 6:30 p.m. in the East District 2 bracket.

In the Central District, Rosecrans earned the seventh seed in Division III and will host ninth seed Johnstown at 7 p.m. Oct. 22, while West Muskingum was the 10th seed and heads to eighth seed Amanda Clearcreek at 7 p.m. Oct. 22.

Tri-Valley was given the 34th seed in Division I and heads to 17th seed Marysville at 7 p.m. Oct. 19 with the winner moving on to face 11th seed Hilliard Bradley at 7 p.m. Oct. 22.

In the Southeast District, Sheridan earned the 13th seed and travels to fourth seed Chillicothe Unioto at 6 p.m. Oct. 20, while 17th seed New Lex heads to 16th seed Gallia Academy at 6 p.m. Oct. 18, and the winner plays at top seed Fairfield Union at 6 p.m. Oct. 20.
