The Only Way Is Essex and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Ferne McCann has spoken out about her voice note scandal in an emotional interview on This Morning.

Chatting to hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on Wednesday’s (March 15) instalment of the ITV daytime show, the reality TV star broke down in tears and apologised as she addressed the controversy.

In November last year, an anonymous Instagram account began leaking a series of voice notes claiming to be from McCann.

In the audio clips, McCann was allegedly heard making derogatory remarks about her former TOWIE co-stars Sam Faiers and Billie Shepherd as well as her ex-boyfriend Arthur Collinsacid attack victim Sophie Hall.

Addressing the voice note scandal on This Morning, McCann broke down and made a tearful public apology.

"It definitely wasn’t my finest hour and it definitely was a difficult time in my life when those voice notes were leaked," she explained. "But I need to take this opportunity to publicly apologise again to those affected.

"Obviously the words that I used were unpleasant and I have reached out privately to those people," she added.

"These voice notes were from a time when I was in a very vulnerable situation and it was a very, very difficult situation for me five to six years ago," she continued. "I since then have done a lot of work on myself.

"I’ve been in therapy for six years and I feel that I am a different person."

McCann insisted she’s currently unable to share her "full-truth" as the voice note leak is a part of a "criminal investigation".

Reality TV fans can see McCann further address the scandal in the new season of Ferne Mccann: First Time Mum.

Watching back an emotional scene from an upcoming episode, the star tearfully admitted: "It’s really hard to watch."

This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV1.

Ferne McCann: First Time Mum begins tonight (March 15) at 9pm on ITVBe and ITVX.
