Our Town Coshocton: Lanny Spaulding resigns as director, will join board next year

COSHOCTON − Lanny Spaulding will be resigning as executive director of Our Town Coshocton on Dec. 31, but he won't go far.

At the board's last meeting, Spaulding thanked board members for allowing him the opportunity to further its mission in revitalizing downtown Coshocton.

“There is no doubt the organization will continue in this endeavor and remain a pillar among local organizations,” Spaulding said.

During the meeting Spaulding expressed a desire to continue the goods works, albeit not as an employee of the organization. It was voted for Spaulding to join the board next year. Spaulding will also be part of the commission to select a new employee or employees to manage OTC projects and programs.

Spaulding mentioned several accomplishments of his three year tenure including helping to establish a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area in downtown, a summer concert series on the Coshocton Court Square and putting nearly $600,000 so far from the Coshocton and Montgomery foundations into renovations of the Selby Building.

"It’s the things you can’t easily see, though, that will continue to pay dividends, such as building a strong relationship with Roscoe Village or playing a supportive role in adding confidence to live, work and thrive in what was once viewed as a bygone downtown historic district,” Spaulding said.

Spaulding serves on the City of Coshocton’s Civil Service Commission, Human Relations Commission and is chair of the DORA board and Historic Preservation Commission. Additionally, he is a member of the boards of the Coshocton Visitor’s Bureau, Coshocton in Bloom, Museum Foundation and Coshocton C.A.R.E.S.

Spaulding said he was leaving full-time employment with OTC to pursue other available opportunities.

“Ultimately, I must be mindful that I am older every year and must make the best choices for my future. That said, I care considerably about how far we have come and am mindful of the work that is not yet done. I will remain a resident of Coshocton, continue to advance larger projects like the Selby and continue my service on the other boards of which I am a member of," he said. "There is no place like home and I can work from anywhere. Thanks in part to our efforts at OTC, there is no place like Coshocton.”
