HUNTINGTON, NY — The Town of Huntington is scheduled to hold its 9/11 Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Friday at the 9/11 Memorial in Heckscher Park, located at 147 Main St., Huntington. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will be a caveat: Attendance will be limited.

Town elected officials, limited program participants, and families of Town residents lost on Sept. 11, 2001, who RSVP’d their attendance will only be allowed. The Town is making accommodations to ensure the service will adhere to New York state limitations on public gatherings, and those who lost loved ones can appropriately honor them.

Visitors to Heckscher Park outside of the 9/11 Memorial area are welcome with the condition that they maintain a distance of at least six feet and wear masks, according to the Town.

The service will honor and remember residents and first responders of the Town of Huntington who lost their lives during the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
