Town Square Social, Split Bean Roasting, new brewery all options on changing Lebanon square

Lebanon’s town square and surrounding area have experienced a resurgence with a number of specialty stores, boutiques and multi-purpose event venues like The Mill at Lebanon and the Capitol Theatre.

Several food and drink options compliment the revitalized square:

Town Square Social Restaurant and Bar, 145 Public Square: A go-to spot on the square known for smoked food options — especially chicken and wings. Pulled pork and a woodfire brick oven pizza are also popular menu options. Owners Cody McCray and Kyle Shaffer opened Town Square Social in September 2018. Live music is scheduled 7:30-10:30 p.m., on Fridays.

Cedar City Brewery Co., 112 Public Square: Opened on the square in late 2022 by McCray  and Shaffer. Kolsch, described as a light, crisp craft beer, is a popular seller. Cedar City Brewery has 14 beers on tap. The brewery has plenty of food options as well, including the popular Smash Burger — served with American cheese, caramelized onion and a pickle with fries, beer cheese and pretzel bites.

Split Bean Roasting Company, 110 E. Main St.: Expect a Honey Bee Latte with raw honey and a house-made cinnamon syrup. It's designed to compliment the espresso without overpowering it and hiding the coffee. The chicken salad croissant is a popular lunch choice. Split Bean is both a social gathering and a business meeting place. Owner and head roaster Christopher Cox opened Split Bean in January 2018.

YiaGhee’s SpecialTeas, 104 E. Main St.: Bubble teas are the specialty offered by owners Stacey and Laurie Grissom. They opened in October 2022 after starting at the 2019 Wilson County Fair. Customers essentially pick a base drink that includes different flavored teas, hot teas, smoothies, slushies, coffees and more. The drink can be ordered with a boba — tapioca pearls soaked in brown sugar and honey, a popper that is a juice-filled ball with different flavor options — that provides a burst of flavor, or a jelly that also adds flavor to drinks.

There is also an upstairs venue space available for parties and community activities.

The Crab Shack of Lebanon, 300 E. High St.: All-you-can-eat crab legs are the popular menu choice from 3 p.m. to close Wednesdays-Sundays for the restaurant, located off the square at 300 East High — it opened in May 2022. The crab legs come with four unique sauces — garlic, garlic parmesan, shack (sweet, tangy with a little heat to it) and the spicy cajun, which has an extra spicy option called Big Ed, co-owner Travis Strader said.
