CHERRY VALLEY — Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Toys R Us is making a comeback.

The iconic toy store has reopened inside every Macy’s in the U.S., including the store’s CherryVale Mall location.

It’s part of an expanded partnership with the toy retailer’s parent company, WHP Global.

The stores will range in size from 1,000 square feet in smaller Macy’s locations to up to 10,000 square feet in flagship stores in big cities.

Toys R Us carries popular toy brands including Fisher Price, Hot Wheels, Lego, Nerf and Barbie.

Toys R Us had a standalone store near the Cherryvale Mall for decades until the store relocated to Forest Plaza, 6449 E. State St., in Rockford, in 2008.

That location closed when Toys R Us went bankrupt in 2018 and shuttered all of its stores.
