Trace Adkins, Lonestar and Diamond Rio highlight 5 things to do in Morgan, Owen counties this weekend

With the longest day of the year fast approaching, families are taking advantage of the sunny season throughout Morgan and Owen counties.

This upcoming weekend will be no different as there will be a number of different activities for all to enjoy around Martinsville, Mooresville and Spencer.

Across the region: Indiana electric companies warn of blackouts, ask customers to reduce energy consumption.

Here are a few of those events.

Flip Flop Summer Vendor Event

364 S. East St, Spencer, Ind.

The Flip Flop Summer Vendor Event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, at the Owen County Fairgrounds in Spencer.

More than 60 vendors are expected with craft items and food available.

McCormick's Creek State Park

250 McCormick's Creek Park Road, Spencer, Ind.

McCormick's Creek State Park will host several events on Saturday.

I-69 Finish Line: Tanker crash causes damage to infrastructure along future interstate corridor.

These activities include:

  • Backyard Birds, 10 a.m., at the park's nature center

  • A true survivor hike, 10:45 a.m., meet at the nature center

  • Camo critters hike, 1 p.m., meet at the nature center

  • Snakes at the falls, 3 p.m., meet at the falls overlook on Trail 3

Cody's Ride

150 W. Washington St., Morgantown, Ind.

The sixth annual Cody's Ride will take place starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, at French's Pub in Morgantown.

The cost to participate is $25 per rider and $50 per couple.

Registration begins at 11 a.m.

Martinsville: City, developer reach agreement on sanitary sewer for future housing development.

The ride will end around 5 p.m. in Martinsville, and the after-party will include food and live music.

Proceeds from this year's event goes to Emily Priddy.

Morgan County Pre-Fair Concert

1749 Hospital Dr., Martinsville, Ind.

One of the biggest events this weekend will take place at the Morgan County Fairgrounds, which will play host to Trace Adkins, Lonestar and Diamond Rio for this year's Morgan County Pre-Fair Concert.

Local acts Rose O'Neal and Bigg Country will also take the stage during this year's concert.

Those wishing to purchase tickets online can do so at WCBK.com.

Parking for the event begins at 2 p.m., with gates opening for platinum ticket holders at 3:30.

Gold- and silver-tiered admission begins at 4 p.m.

High-speed connection: County looking to find areas without broadband internet connection.

For those with a dinner pass, Gather Around BBQ will serve food from 4 to 6 p.m.

The concert will begin at 5 p.m.

Concert-goers are asked to bring their own set of seating to the event.

Wild Hogs concert

3820 Leonard Rd., Martinsville, Ind.

Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery will host live music at its venue on Sunday, June 19.

The band Wild Hogs will take the stage at 4 p.m.

Admission for the concert is free.
