Tracee Ellis Ross made an entrance at last night's Fashion Trust US Awards in an unexpected look that came straight from the runway.

The actress walked the red carpet at the event in a deep purple-and-black dress with billowing sleeves in neon yellow pulled from Erdem's fall-winter 2023 ready-to-wear collection. The dress was entirely sheer at the base and featured a floral pattern in velvet panels. The middle was broken up by a peplum detail, and the eye-catching sleeves doubled as gloves.

Ellis Ross layered the standout dress over a short black slip and paired it with bright yellow pumps to complement her sleeves.

The Black-ish star matched her purple eyeshadow to the dress and wore a nude lip gloss and her hair in two sleek braids. She accessorized only with long gold-and-diamond bar earrings.

"In fashion we trust," Ellis Ross captioned a series of photos of herself posing in the bold look on her Instagram.

Fashion Trust US is a nonprofit, which launched in November 2022, dedicated to "discovering, funding, and nurturing" young American design talent, per the event's website. Their inaugural award show was held in Los Angeles this Tuesday night, and Ellis Ross was among the celebrity presenters.

While up on the podium, Ellis Ross announced the winners of the Jewellery Award: Brooklyn-based twins Soull and Dynasty Ogun. The designers will receive a grant of up to $150,000 and advisory board mentorship to further grow their brand.
